The main actor has revealed he’s aware of when the show will conclude, which is welcome news for its viewers.
Adam Scott, who stars in the popular show Severance, has confirmed he knows how the series will end. As an executive producer, he’s closely involved in the creative process. He explained that he regularly discusses the plot with the writers and creator Dan Erickson, and prefers to be fully informed about the story’s direction.
Fans of Severance can breathe a sigh of relief. Knowing the show has a planned ending is a positive sign, especially since many beloved series tend to lose quality when they go on for too long. It shows the creators are committed to ending the show on a high note, before the story starts to decline.
Apple TV’s Severance — Explained
The 2022 series Severance, created by Dan Erickson, centers around Mark Scout, played by Adam Scott, and his job at Lumon Industries. The show explores a procedure called ‘severance,’ which divides employees’ memories, creating entirely separate work and personal lives. Those who undergo the severance procedure have no recollection of their work life outside of the office, and vice versa.
Joining Adam Scott in Severance is a talented cast including Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Tramell Tillman, each with hidden depths within the mysterious Lumon Industries. The show also introduces new characters played by Gwendoline Christie as Lorne, a severed employee, and Sarah Bock as the new Deputy Manager of the severed floor.
Season 2 of Severance is receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews, just like the first season. As of today, it has a “Certified Fresh” rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on reviews from critics. Audiences also seem to love it, giving it a 74% score based on over 25,000 reviews.
What the Future Looks Like for Apple TV’s Severance
Scott shared his enthusiasm for Severance Season 3, predicting it will be fantastic and full of unexpected twists. He’s eager to begin filming. While Ben Stiller, a fellow executive producer and the main director of Severance, won’t be directing any episodes this season, he’ll still be involved in the show. Scott explained that it’s been over two years since they finished Season 2 and the team is excited to reunite and get back to work.
Scott, the creator of Severance, believes the show’s ending won’t necessarily tie up all loose ends. He wants to maintain a sense of mystery, similar to the famously ambiguous finale of The Sopranos. He actually appreciates endings that leave you thinking and doesn’t want to provide all the answers, finding this approach appealing not just in television and film, but also in music.
Scott explained that he’s always been drawn to bands that keep some mystery around their music and members. He enjoys being able to use his imagination and connect with the art on a personal level.
You can currently watch Severance on Apple TV+. There’s no news yet on when Season 3 will be released.
