Ryan Reynolds has discussed what’s next for Deadpool. He hinted that the character might be different when he appears in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films, possibly as part of a team.
Deadpool won’t have a leading role in Ryan Reynolds’ next MCU team-up movie
Ryan Reynolds hinted that Deadpool might not be the main character in his next Marvel movie. He discussed the future of the Deadpool franchise and whether a new solo film is planned while appearing on Sunday Sitdown Live in New York City on April 7th.
Reynolds shared that he’s been developing ideas for the character, but hinted the next project might be different. He mentioned having some initial writing done, but doesn’t intend to center the entire story on Deadpool this time.
The actor stated he likely won’t focus on this character as the main lead again, seeing him better suited as a supporting role within an ensemble cast. He made these comments after recent buzz about the franchise, particularly following his work with Hugh Jackman in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). The movie has led to discussions about the character’s future and how he might appear in other Marvel films.
I’m hearing some exciting news! It sounds like Marvel might be fast-tracking another Deadpool movie – potentially Deadpool 4 – and could even make it happen before they start the X-Men reboot. Apparently, they’re thinking of doing it after ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which means some other projects might have to be put on hold to make it happen. As a fan, I’m totally okay with that!
Rhett Reynolds has shared his vision for how Deadpool fits into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. He believes Deadpool should be able to interact with groups like the X-Men and Avengers, but remain separate from them, acting as an outsider. He explained to The Hollywood Reporter that this approach is key to the character’s appeal.
