The critically acclaimed sci-fi series is gaining popularity again, but surprisingly, it’s charting on Apple TV, not Prime Video. It’s currently number seven on the premium video chart in the U.S. Apple TV Store.
This news comes after t, debuted for free. .
What Is The Expanse About?
This series is a thrilling science fiction adventure set 200 years in the future. Space travel exists, but it’s difficult and risky. Earth is running out of resources, and the attempt to make Mars habitable has largely failed. Both planets depend on the Belters – people born and raised in space who have physically and culturally adapted to survive the challenging conditions – and often exploit their labor.
The story of The Expanse starts with the disappearance of a young woman. Investigating this case throws a cynical detective and a hopeful spaceship captain into a thrilling chase across the solar system, where they uncover a massive conspiracy that threatens everything. And as the investigation unfolds, the stakes just keep getting higher.
The game is well-received, boasting an 85% positive user rating. Its complex narrative features multiple characters and a compelling sense of mystery.
Prime Video Saved The Expanse From Cancellation
Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby adapted James S.A. Corey’s bestselling sci-fi novels into the TV series The Expanse. The show initially aired for three seasons on Syfy, but after being cancelled, it was revived by Prime Video, which released the remaining three seasons.
I’m so excited to hear that Naren Shankar, who really steered The Expanse to a fantastic finish as showrunner, is teaming up with the original creators again for The Captive’s War! Thinking back on The Expanse, it had such an incredible cast – I loved watching Thomas Jane, Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Paulo Costanzo, Florence Faivre, Shawn Doyle, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Frankie Adams, Cara Gee, Keon Alexander, Jasai Chase Owens, and Nadine Nicole bring those characters to life over all six seasons.
Will There Be More of The Expanse?
While the TV show The Expanse had a satisfying conclusion, fans of the books know there’s more to the story. The series only covered the first six novels out of nine, stopping just before a significant leap forward in time. The remaining three books finish a storyline hinted at in the show and ramp up the existing conflicts.
Now that the TV series The Expanse has finished, the story continues through comic books and a video game that’s in development. While nothing is confirmed, author Daniel Abraham (one of the writers behind the James S.A. Corey pen name) hinted at a possible revival during a recent online Q&A, pointing to the multiple cancellations and resurrections of Futurama. This suggests fans still have reason to be optimistic about the future of the franchise.
You can currently watch The Expanse on Prime Video, and it’s also available to rent or buy on digital platforms like the Apple TV Store.
