Looking for something new to watch on Netflix this weekend (April 17–19, 2026)? Here are three top picks: a critically acclaimed legal thriller with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the highly anticipated second season of an award-winning show, and a surprise crime thriller that’s currently topping the charts as Netflix’s most popular series. These are the newest, most talked-about shows you can start and finish this weekend.
As a total Netflix addict, I was thrilled to see what dropped last week! They added a bunch of new stuff, including the second season of that intense heist show, Crooks, and more episodes of the addictive reality series Million Dollar Secret. For documentary fans, there’s a fascinating three-part look at soccer legend Ronaldinho, called Ronaldinho: The One And Only. They also released season five of the hilarious (and pretty raunchy!) Alpha Males, and the fourth season of Full Swing, which follows the lives of some amazing pro golfers. But honestly, while everything was good, there are three shows that really stood out and are perfect for a serious binge-watching session right now.
The Law According To Lidia Poët
The third and final season of The Law According to Lidia Poët premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, April 15th, adding six new episodes to complete the series’ 18 total. This legal thriller, inspired by a true story, follows Lidia Poët, Italy’s first female lawyer, in the late 1800s. It’s both a historical drama and a compelling crime series, and has earned a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes throughout its three seasons, making it a standout show on Netflix.
Matilda De Angelis, known for her roles in Citadel and Dracula, gives a standout performance as Lidia Poët. The series begins with Lidia unfairly barred from practicing law simply because she’s a woman. Undeterred, she joins her brother’s firm and proves to be a brilliant, though often overlooked, asset, skillfully solving complex cases and defending people facing serious accusations. If you’re looking for an exciting and visually appealing show to watch, check out The Law According to Lidia Poët this weekend.
Beef
Following the huge popularity of its first season in 2023 – which won 8 Emmy Awards, including recognition as the best Limited or Anthology Series – season 2 of Beef is now available. This season features a new, incredibly talented cast including Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny, and it’s expected to be one of Netflix’s most popular new shows this weekend.
The first season of Beef explored themes of anger, but season 2 delves into the damaging effects of envy. The story centers on a young couple who unexpectedly witness a heated argument between their boss and his wife, creating ongoing tension within their exclusive social circle. While season 2 hasn’t received quite the same rave reviews as season 1, it still boasts a solid 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is aiming for the top spot worldwide this weekend.
Bandi
The new French-Canadian crime thriller Bandi is quickly becoming a streaming sensation. As of Thursday, April 16th, it’s the #1 trending show on Netflix worldwide. With only 8 episodes, each about an hour long, Bandi is also gaining popularity in the U.S. and across the globe. The series tells the story of orphaned siblings in Martinique who turn to crime after their mother unexpectedly passes away. Released on April 9th, Bandi has become Netflix’s most-watched series this week and is a great choice for a quick binge-watch.
