The Copenhagen Test canceled after 1 season by Peacock

Peacock has cancelled the espionage thriller The Copenhagen Test after just one season. The show, starring Simu Liu, won’t be back for more episodes, as reported exclusively by Variety on April 15, 2026.

The show’s first season, consisting of eight episodes, became available on December 27, 2025. Reviews were generally good, with a 71% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it didn’t gain a large audience.

As a big fan of streaming numbers, I was looking at the latest Nielsen data, and this show really popped during the week of December 29th to January 4th – people watched a whopping 373 million minutes of it! That was enough to land it at number 10 on Nielsen’s chart of original streaming shows. Sadly, it didn’t quite maintain that momentum and couldn’t break back into the top 10 in the following weeks.

The series centers on Alexander Hale, a Chinese-American intelligence analyst, who discovers someone has hacked his brain, allowing them to see and hear everything he does.

According to the summary, Hale is stuck in the middle of a conflict between his secretive organization and mysterious hackers. He has to constantly act a part to uncover the people responsible and demonstrate where his loyalties truly lie.

Joining Liu in the main cast are Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant. Thomas Brandon created the show and served as writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. Jennifer Yale was also a writer and executive producer, and co-showran the series alongside Brandon.

In addition to starring in the series, Liu also became an executive producer. James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett from Atomic Monster also served as executive producers, alongside Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson, completing the production team. Wilkinson directed the first two episodes, and UCP was the studio responsible for producing the series.
