Spy x Family Gets Surprise Official Update Ahead of Season 4

Ever since Season 3 ended, everyone’s been hoping for news about whether Spy x Family would get another season. But instead of a Season 4 announcement, they surprised us with something different: a sequel to the stage play! It’s called Spy x Family 2 and will continue the story from the live adaptation.

Recently, Spy x Family revealed a new promotional image and announced more cast members for its next season. The season will cover the “Bomb Dog” and “Luxury Cruise Ship” storylines from the original manga by Tatsuya Endo.

The show will premiere with special preview performances at Westa Kawagoe in Saitama Prefecture from September 9th to 11th, 2026. Following this, it will tour Tokyo, Fukuoka, Hyogo, Aichi, and Yamagata between September 22nd and December 29th, 2026. You can see a key visual featuring the main cast in their character roles below.

Official Spy x Family Show Unveils New Looks for Loid, Yor & More

The stage musical adaptation of Spy x Family premiered in March 2023 at Tokyo’s Imperial Theater. It then toured to Hyogo and Fukuoka Prefectures in April and May. The original creative team – writer and director G2, and composer/music director Shuhei Kamimura – are returning to create a sequel, with Kamimura composing new music and lyrics.

Toho is producing the stage adaptation of Spy x Family 2, and has announced double casting for the main roles. Morisaki Win will return as Twilight, joined by Kento Kiuchi who is new to the role. Fuka Yuzuki and Maaya Kiho will both play Yor. While Morisaki previously performed as Twilight in the first stage show, this will be Kiuchi’s debut in the role.

Kuichi recently shared that they unexpectedly began developing the character of Loid Forger last year, and is committed to exploring the role even further in the future.

Maaya will be taking over the role of Yor Forger, previously played by Mirei Sasaki. She’s new to the cast and excited to portray such a special character, describing Yor as both strong and gentle, and sharp yet lovely. Maaya plans to bring Yor’s charm to life with nuance and detail, and she’s looking forward to sharing her performance with the audience.

Spy x Family Season 4 Remains in Production Limbo

The third season of the Spy x Family anime premiered in December 2025. Since then, the animation studios CloverWorks and Wit Studio have been busy. Given the anime’s huge popularity worldwide and the amount of unadapted content from the original manga, fans can reasonably hope for a fourth season, though no official announcement has been made yet.

Tickets for the upcoming Spy x Family movie will be available for pre-sale in Japan starting May 19, 2026, with general pre-sale tickets becoming available on July 11. You can currently watch the Spy x Family anime on streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll, and read the manga in English from VIZ Media.
