Matt LeBlanc, best known for his role on Friends, is returning to television after a five-year break. He will star in a new series currently being developed by the network.
Matt LeBlanc is set to star in Flint, a new police drama. While the series hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it’s currently planned to premiere during the 2027-28 television season on CBS. LeBlanc is also an executive producer on the show, which is written by Evan Katz (known for his work on 24, Special Unit 2, and The Event). Production will be handled by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
Matt LeBlanc Will Take On a Detective Role
The CBS series Flint features Matt LeBlanc as a Los Angeles detective nearing retirement. Just when he expects to leave the force, the city unexpectedly extends his service by five years. Determined to be relieved of duty, he starts bending the rules and ignoring orders, but surprisingly, this makes him a more effective police officer.
Matt LeBlanc became famous for playing Joey Tribbiani on the incredibly popular TV show Friends, which is still a favorite among viewers today. He continued in the role for a spin-off series, Joey, which ran for two seasons from 2004 to 2006, after appearing in all ten seasons of Friends. More recently, he starred as a version of himself in the comedy series Episodes for five seasons, from 2011 to 2017. His last major television appearance was in the 2021 HBO Max special, Friends: The Reunion.
Matt LeBlanc Only Works When He Feels Like It
It seems Justin LeBlanc is taking a break from acting because he’s choosing projects he’s genuinely excited about. He earned a lot of money from his previous work and hasn’t needed to rush into new roles since then. Last year, a clip from his appearance on Conan resurfaced where he mentioned wanting to retire relatively soon.
Matt LeBlanc expressed a desire to step away from acting. He said he’d love to spend his days doing absolutely nothing – just relaxing and having complete freedom. This means sleeping in or waking up early, whatever he feels like, without any obligations or being told what to do.
He explained that his favorite thing to do was simply relax and do absolutely nothing. He felt he was exceptionally good at it, joking he could even be a professional at it, since it requires no effort or rules. When asked about his plans for the day, he replied, simply, ‘Nothing.’
CBS announced a new series called Flint during a press event in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The network also shared updates on other projects, including the comedy Hilda! In Lights, about an elderly woman pursuing a Broadway dream, and a drama based on the book I Know Who You Are: How an Amateur DNA Sleuth Unmasked the Golden State Killer and Changed Crime by Corinne Kingsbury. Sheriff Country is also currently in development.
This fall, CBS will launch a new series called NCIS: New York, bringing back LL Cool J, known for his role in NCIS: Los Angeles, as the lead. He’ll be joined by Scott Caan. CBS has also confirmed that Beyond the Gates and Harlan Coben’s Final Twist will be returning for another season.
