Netflix has a great lineup of new shows coming out this week, from April 20th to 24th, 2026, including a new installment of its most popular original series. There’s something for everyone – whether you’re in the mood for a comedy or a suspenseful drama – but these five new series are definitely the ones to watch this week.
As a critic, I wasn’t surprised to see Beef dominate Netflix charts again last weekend – it was the clear #1 show in the U.S. and a must-watch, as we at ScreenRant predicted. But beyond that, a couple of international series really caught my eye. The French crime drama Bandi and the Italian legal thriller The Law According to Lidia Poët both started gaining traction, and I have to point out that Lidia Poët is currently sitting at a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes – a seriously impressive feat!
Netflix has a lot of fresh content this week! They’re releasing two new reality shows with a funny twist, hosted by big names like Kevin Hart and Zach Galifianakis. If you’re into thrillers, a new 6-episode series arrives Tuesday, April 21st – perfect for watching all at once. Plus, season two of a popular sports comedy is coming out, and the biggest show on Netflix is getting a brand new animated spin-off that’s expected to be a huge success.
Funny AF
Hosted by Kevin Hart, Funny AF is a new reality TV series where comedians from across the US compete for a chance to star in their own Netflix special. The first four episodes are now streaming, and more will be available on April 27th. With guest judges like Kumail Nanjiani, Keegan-Michael Key, Nikki Glaser, Chelsea Handler, and Tom Segura, this series is a must-watch for any fan of stand-up comedy.
Unchosen
The new Netflix thriller series, Unchosen, premieres on Tuesday, April 21st. It stars Asa Butterfield (known for Hugo and Ender’s Game) and Molly Windsor. The show centers on Rosie, a devoted wife living within a strict Christian cult, whose life is turned upside down when she meets a mysterious man named Sam (Fra Fee). As Rosie attempts to gain independence and discover who she truly is, she realizes just how limited her choices have been and develops a strong urge to break free.
This Is A Gardening Show
Zach Galifianakis, the popular comedian, is back with a new Netflix series called This Is A Gardening Show. As the title suggests, it’s all about gardening, but with Galifianakis’s famously quirky and funny approach. The six episodes will be available all at once on April 22nd. The show aims to be both entertaining and informative, and fans of his viral series Between Two Ferns will likely enjoy it. It’s shaping up to be one of the most unique and binge-worthy new shows hitting Netflix this week.
Running Point
The second season of Running Point arrives on Netflix this Thursday, April 23rd. The show was a hit with viewers last year, earning an 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Starring Kate Hudson (recently nominated for an Oscar), along with Max Greenfield and Brenda Song, Running Point centers on Isla Gordon, who unexpectedly becomes president of a Los Angeles basketball team after her father passes away. Inspired by the real-life story of Jeanie Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, the show is a feel-good comedy that blends sports and humor – similar to Ted Lasso – and is expected to be popular on Netflix this week.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85
This week, Netflix is releasing Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, a brand-new animated series and the first spin-off from the popular Stranger Things franchise. The show, which premieres on Thursday, April 23rd with 10 episodes, is set in Hawkins during the winter of 1985—between the events of seasons 2 and 3. Featuring a new cast of voice actors, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is expected to be one of Netflix’s most popular new releases this week, coming just months after the original series concluded.
