People are clearly showing how much they love the movies based on Suzanne Collins’ books. Right now, all five films are in the top 10 most-watched titles on Hulu.
As of April 23, 2026, it’s clear that audiences are still completely captivated by Panem. Looking at the Hulu charts via FlixPatrol, The Hunger Games franchise dominates! The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is currently number one, followed closely by the original The Hunger Games at two, and Catching Fire rounding out the top three. While SKYKING and another title are holding down spots four and five, the world of Katniss Everdeen isn’t letting up. You can still find Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2* at numbers six and seven, proving this franchise continues to be a major draw for viewers.
The Hunger Games Tops The Charts Ahead of Upcoming Film
The first four Hunger Games movies follow the story of a young woman living in a broken future version of North America. Each year, the Capitol—a rich city in this land called Panem—forces each of the twelve districts to send one boy and one girl as a ‘tribute’ to fight in a brutal, televised battle to the death.
The popular franchise also stars Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Donald Sutherland as Coriolanus Snow, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, and Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, along with many other talented actors. Following the four films that told the story of the original trilogy, a new prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, was released almost ten years later, offering fans a deeper look into the world and characters.
As a huge fan of the Hunger Games world, I was really fascinated by the new prequel. It tells the story of a young Coriolanus Snow – played brilliantly by Tom Blyth – and how he started his climb to power. The movie centers around him being a mentor to Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), one of the tributes in the Games. What I loved is that it really fleshes out the backstory of what would become the series’ main villain, Snow, but also gives us a deeper look at District 12 and hints at the origins of Katniss Everdeen’s story. It adds so much to the overall lore!
Sunrise on the Reaping Explores One of The Hunger Games’ Most Beloved Mentors
The new Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, will delve into the backstory of Haymitch Abernathy, a beloved character from the original series. Taking place 24 years before the first Hunger Games movie, the film focuses on Haymitch’s experience in the 50th Hunger Games, which features a special challenge: double the number of tributes competing for survival.
Joseph Zada will appear in the new film, with Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman. Ralph Fiennes returns as President Coriolanus Snow. The movie, based on the 2025 novel of the same name, continues the story after The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and leads into the events of the original The Hunger Games. It’s scheduled for release on November 20th.
The Hunger Games film franchise is now streaming on Hulu.
