
Just months after the release of Superman, James Gunn is already directing the sequel. He posted on social media to announce that filming for Man of Tomorrow has begun.
A recently released image shows a chessboard alongside a lanyard belonging to a correctional facility with the name “A. Luthor” (referencing Alexander Luthor). This suggests Lex Luthor will be imprisoned sometime during the movie, possibly at the start. The image also features what looks like the logo for Man of Tomorrow, combining Superman’s shield with a three-dot symbol familiar to DC Comics fans. You can see the image below.

James Gunn Is Moving Fast With the DC Universe
Since launching the DC Universe with Superman, Gunn and Saffran have wasted no time expanding its boundaries. The second season of Gunn’s Peacemaker series retconned the show into the DC Universe. The end of Superman teed up , which debuts in July. Lanterns is coming soon, and the Clayface movie is also on the way.Just two days ago, by posting an image of Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s first appearance in Action Comics #1 in 1938. “Happy anniversary to Superman and Lois Lane!” Gunn wrote. “They’ve been saving the world and telling its stories since 1938, with no plans to stop. They made their first appearances in ACTION COMICS #1, written by Jerry Siegel, with pencils and inks by Joe Shuster.”Man of Tomorrow opens in theaters on July 9, 2027. Corenswet will also appear in Supergirl, opening in theaters on July 31, 2026.
