Chris Pratt‘s underrated show will soon be available to watch for free.
Over the last ten years, Chris Pratt has become a major movie star, known for roles in films like the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the Jurassic World series. He’s also a popular voice actor, bringing characters like Garfield and Mario to life. However, before becoming an action hero or gaining fame on Parks and Recreation, Pratt actually started his career with appearances in some well-known teen TV dramas.
Starting May 1, and continuing on June 1, Pluto TV will add several shows to its free, on-demand and exclusive channel lineup. Viewers can enjoy the teen drama Everwood, along with the sitcom My Wife & Kids, the superhero series Arrow, the sci-fi show The 100, and the romance drama Heart of Dixie, starring Rachel Bilson.
We’ve intentionally added these shows because research shows that 72% of Gen Z enjoy programs from the 2000s and 2010s – and all of these fit that timeframe. Everwood, in particular, helped launch the careers of many now-famous actors. Created by Greg Berlanti – who later became well-known for shows like those in the Arrowverse – Everwood first aired in 2002 on The WB, running for four seasons and a total of 89 episodes.
I’ll never forget discovering Everwood. It starts with Dr. Andy Brown, played by the wonderful Treat Williams, uprooting his family to this charming little town called Everwood, Colorado, after a heartbreaking loss – his wife passing away. And one of the best parts? Michael Pratt was brilliant as Bright Abbott, and he was a constant presence throughout all four seasons as Andy’s brother, Ephram.
The show’s central storyline followed Ephram, portrayed by Gregory Smith, but Pratt’s character also played a significant role. He appeared in 80 episodes, with a key early plotline showing Bright distancing himself from his friends to focus on protecting his sister.
Emily VanCamp, who later became famous for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, played Bright and Ephram’s sister. The show also featured a talented cast that included rising stars like Kristen Bell and Kate Mara, alongside established actors such as Marcia Cross, Jane Krakowski, J.K. Simmons, and Betty White.
Chris Pratt also appeared in a few episodes of the teen drama The O.C., where his comedic timing hinted at his future role on Parks and Recreation. While The O.C. was a major hit, Everwood is a lesser-known, but compelling family drama that deserves to be discovered by fans.
