The new science fiction thriller will compete for awards at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, taking place May 12-23. Before the festival, Neon, the company releasing the film in North America, shared some photos from the movie on Instagram.

The first image features Jung Ho-yeon as Officer Sung-ae, appearing concerned while driving a police vehicle. Although Michael Fassbender is a lead actor in the movie Hope, Neon hasn’t shared any pictures of his character yet. The film also stars Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Uhm Tae-goo, and Lee Kyu-hyung.

Hope is a sci-fi thriller set in Hope Harbor, South Korea, near the heavily guarded Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). When a tiger is spotted nearby, the townspeople become concerned. What initially seems like a routine problem for the local police chief quickly escalates into a shocking mystery that throws the entire village into chaos.
