Prime Video’s Heated Rivalry replacement, Off Campus, officially gets a trailer.
The Crave original series Heated Rivalry, based on Rachel Reid’s novel, has become increasingly popular since its debut on HBO Max less than a year ago. The show follows the secret, years-long romance between two professional hockey rivals. While fans eagerly await the return of Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander next spring, a new series on Prime Video is hoping to fill the void.
Like its companion film, Off Campus is adapted from the popular novels by Elle Kennedy. Amazon Prime Video is releasing the movie next month, and to build excitement, they’ve just released the first trailer. This gives viewers a good preview of what to expect from the hockey-themed romance series.

The show Heated Rivalry didn’t just popularize hockey-themed romance on television – it also raised the standard for adapting books into shows. Since its late 2025 debut, it’s become a worldwide success, making stars out of Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams. Ultimately, the show succeeded because of its strong love story set within the exciting world of professional hockey, and Off Campus is aiming to deliver the same kind of experience.
Beyond the challenge of following up the popular novel Heated Rivalry, the new Prime Video series also faces expectations from longtime fans of author Kennedy. Naturally, a TV adaptation can’t include every detail from the book, which allows for some creative changes. For example, the trailer shows that the series altered a few things in Off Campus: Hannah’s nickname is now Rosy instead of Wellsy, and Justin is a musician rather than a football player.
The changes made from the books will keep even those familiar with the story guessing, as the Prime Video series doesn’t follow the original plot exactly. Whether the show continues beyond the first season, and explores the stories of other hockey players at Briar University, depends on how well Off Campus season 1 performs.
