Fox has decided not to renew Fear Factor: House of Fear, the recently revived reality show starring Johnny Knoxville. This announcement comes a month after the first season finished airing.
Fox has announced a second season of Fear Factor: House of Fear after a successful first season. The debut episode reached 16.5 million viewers across various platforms, making it the network’s best new unscripted show premiere this season, particularly among adults aged 18-49. The first season, which consisted of ten episodes, began airing on January 11th, and the second season is anticipated to premiere sometime in 2027.
Johnny Knoxville Will Raise the Stakes in Season 2
Fox’s Fear Factor: House of Fear has quickly become a hit show, and viewers love the extreme challenges it presents to both the contestants and themselves, according to Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn. He praised Johnny Knoxville’s energetic and unpredictable hosting style, noting that Knoxville and Endemol have successfully updated the classic format into something new, exciting, competitive, and delightfully uncomfortable. Plans are already underway to make Season 2 even more shocking and thrilling.
Sharon Levy, CEO of Endemol Shine North America, explained that bringing back the classic show Fear Factor needed a host who could live up to its reputation, and Johnny Knoxville was perfect for the job. He wasn’t just the host of Fear Factor: House of Fear; he truly became the show’s driving force and personality.
ESNA becoming the most-streamed unscripted series this season is a huge accomplishment, and it proves the Fear format is still incredibly popular,” said Levy. “We’re already planning to make Season 2 even more intense, with bigger stunts and a more engaging social media strategy. We feel like we’re only just beginning to explore what’s possible.”
Fear Factor: House of Fear Will Continue With Season 2
Hosting the show in Knoxville has brought a new level of intensity to the classic Fear Factor format. The series pits contestants against incredibly difficult, disgusting, and physically demanding challenges. Throughout the competition, those who perform poorly or fail a challenge are eliminated, until only one winner remains. The first season featured stunts like being trapped in sealed bags, escaping from boxes filled with animals, jumping through flames, drinking revolting blended drinks, enduring snake bites, and being pulled by fast-moving horses, to name a few.
Fear Factor: House of Fear is for subscribers, and is also available to watch for free on Tubi.
