Following the season 3 premiere of House of the Dragon on HBO and Max on June 21st, the world of Game of Thrones will expand again in August with a brand new prequel. This time, however, it won’t be a TV show. For the first time, the popular fantasy series is coming to the stage as a live play, titled Game of Thrones: The Mad King. Author George R.R. Martin is producing and helping to create the play.

It’s incredibly difficult to create an ending that satisfies all fans, even for well-crafted stories. The more popular a series becomes, the higher the expectations, and the more likely the finale will strongly divide viewers – some will love it, others will hate it.

The highly anticipated show House of the Dragon is coming back on June 21st, and HBO Max is already launching a big promotional campaign. But the Game of Thrones universe is so popular it doesn’t really need much reminding of what fans love about it. The latest trailer for Season 3 understands this perfectly, focusing on what everyone wants to see: dragons!

Disney announced a new series will follow the Bonds Flying Roos, the Australian sailing team co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, which competes in SailGP.

As a huge movie fan, I’ve always been drawn to Jason Statham. He consistently plays these incredibly capable, often heroic characters – guys who just get things done. It makes sense when you learn he actually has a background in martial arts like kickboxing and jujitsu! He almost always portrays someone with a special forces or assassin skillset. You’ve definitely seen him in some big franchises, though – he’s a major part of The Transporter series, The Expendables, and, of course, Fast & Furious.

Deadpool, the popular and often unpredictable hero from the late 90s and 2000s, never actually appeared on the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, though there were hints and mentions of him. He’s become even more famous since then, boosted by three successful movies starring Ryan Reynolds, making him a well-known character to fans and general audiences alike.

Considering the vast number of fantasy films made over the years, it’s not surprising that some have surpassed Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies. Many impressive fantasy films successfully capture the same magic while also offering something new and improved.

Mortal Kombat II is the follow-up to the 2021 film, Mortal Kombat. The story centers on Earthrealm’s greatest fighters competing in a dangerous tournament. Along with former action movie star Johnny Cage (played by Karl Urban), they must defeat powerful opponents from other worlds to prevent Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) from conquering Earthrealm.

Sony Pictures scored big hits with Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, and they’re hoping the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse (due in 2027) continues that success. But there’s also huge potential in telling stories about individual Spider-Man characters and their worlds, as we’re seeing with the new Spider-Noir series on Prime Video. Nicolas Cage stars as the detective Ben Reilly in a 1930s New York setting – he previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the animated Spider-Verse movies.
