In fact, some of the threads introduced way back in season one got particularly satisfying conclusions in those final, impactful moments.
While 12 Monkeys is largely known for its strange, dreamlike quality and intense science fiction, it also features funny, clever moments thanks to Emily Hampshire’s character, who often makes witty comments and references to popular culture.
12 Monkeys Is A Rare TV Reboot That’s As Good As Its Original Movie
At first glance, the show 12 Monkeys might seem like a disappointing remake of the classic sci-fi film. It takes a few episodes to really get going, but if you persevere, you’ll find it’s just as captivating as the original—and even surpasses it at times. What’s particularly impressive is its consistent internal logic; it’s one of the few time travel stories that actually respects its own rules, rather than using them as a plot convenience.
The sci-fi show takes the time travel concept from the movie in a new direction. While the movie suggests events are set in stone, the show proposes that even within a fixed timeline, things can change and cause different outcomes. This keeps the story unpredictable and exciting for viewers.
