I was so relieved to hear that Robin Hood is coming back! It’s been almost two months since the first season ended, and I was starting to worry. I really enjoyed the show, especially Jack Pattern as Robin Hood and Lauren McQueen as Maid Marion. And having Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham was fantastic! The ten episodes aired through December 28th, 2025, and now we know a new season is coming to MGM+ on November 2, 2025. I can’t wait!
MGM+ has ordered a second season of Robin Hood, as reported by Deadline. Production on Season 2 will start soon with casting, and the story will broaden to include locations beyond Sherwood Forest and Nottingham – specifically, the royal courts of England, France, and Rome. According to Michael Wright, head of MGM+, the renewal means viewers will see more of the Robin Hood legend.
Robin Hood was a huge hit for us, quickly becoming one of our most popular original series ever. Viewers in both the U.S. and internationally loved it, and we’re excited to bring it back for a second season. The creative team, led by John Glenn and Jonathan English, did a fantastic job of retelling this classic story with real heart and detail, and we’re eager to see what they do next.
A Successful ‘Robin Hood’ Reimagining for a Modern Age

MGM+
Robin Hood is a legendary figure who’s been retold in countless stories and films. From the classic Errol Flynn adventure to the Disney cartoon featuring animal characters, many actors – including Kevin Costner, Cary Elwes, Russell Crowe, and Taron Egerton – have played the iconic outlaw. Although recent movie adaptations haven’t always succeeded – the 2018 film was a disappointment – the new series on MGM+ has been a successful and fresh take on the character.
Robin Hood has consistently found success on television. The BBC’s 2006 series, featuring Jonas Armstrong, Lucy Griffiths, and Richard Armitage, lasted three seasons. While Disney hasn’t made a live-action Robin Hood movie, the character appeared in their popular show Once Upon a Time, first played by Tom Ellis (known from Lucifer), and later by Sean Maguire, who became a regular cast member. Now, with this new Robin Hood series, MGM+ hopes to have a show that reaches a wide audience.
