After twelve years, the story of The Walking Dead is finally reaching a conclusion, even though the original series ended. Several spin-off shows have continued the narrative, picking up loose ends. These include Daryl Dixon, which follows Daryl and Carol’s journey in Europe, and The Ones Who Live, a limited series that will reveal what happened to Rick and Michonne.
Another series, Dead City, focuses on Maggie and Negan years after the original show, as they try to create a new life together in New York City. Despite their complicated history, they’ll be working together in season 3. Recent news suggests that a previously unfinished plotline will also be resolved in the new season.
Beth Is Returning In The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3
I’m so excited! A picture from the set of Dead City season 3 just dropped, and it looks like Emily Kinney is coming back as Beth, Maggie’s sister! The photo shows her and Lauren Cohan (who plays Maggie) wearing jackets and smiling, which is awesome. We don’t know for sure if they were actually filming at the time, but if they were, it seems like we might be getting a flashback set in the winter. I can’t wait to see what happens!
Beth first appeared in season 2 of The Walking Dead as Hershel Greene’s youngest daughter. Over time, she formed close bonds with Carl Grimes and Daryl, and remained friends with Maggie. This relationship was tested in season 4 when the Governor attacked the prison, scattering the group and leaving Beth lost with only Daryl by her side.
A group of survivors in Atlanta kidnapped her and forced her to work for them. Just as she was about to be rescued, she stabbed their leader, Dawn, and was fatally shot. Sadly, she never got to see Maggie again, bringing a heartbreaking end to her journey.
How Beth’s Return Can Resolve A TWD Storyline
Maggie last saw Beth when Daryl carried Beth’s body from the hospital. Throughout everything Maggie has endured, no one else in either Dead City or the original show has shared the same bond with her. If Maggie and Beth were to meet again in a flashback, it could finally provide some closure for both of them.
Even if Maggie and Beth don’t reunite on screen right now, The Walking Dead could still give them one last scene through a flashback. This could provide a satisfying conclusion to their story. However, we’ll have to wait until season 3 of Dead City to find out.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 arrives in 2026 on AMC and AMC+.
