The Batman 2 Casts 2 More MCU Actors as Major DC Villains

DC Studios has cast two actors known from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in villain roles for The Batman: Part 2. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, and many of the original 2022 film’s supporting actors will also return. Joining the cast from the MCU are Jeffrey Wright, who played The Watcher, as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis, known as Ulysses Klaue, as Alfred Pennyworth. The sequel is scheduled for release in 2027.

Director Matt Reeves is building a new cast for The Batman 2 and plans to begin filming in the spring. Recent reports suggest Scarlett Johansson, known for her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is joining the DC sequel. There’s speculation she might play either a villain or a romantic partner for Batman.

Following recent news about Scarlett Johansson potentially appearing in The Batman 2, it’s now being reported that two additional actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will also be in the film.

MCU Superhero Actors Join The Batman 2 as DC Villains

Sebastian Stan – Two-Face

According to Deadline, Sebastian Stan, known for playing the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is in discussions to appear in The Batman 2. This would be his first role in a DC film, coming shortly after he finishes working on Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release this December.

Soon after the announcement, Jeff Sneider revealed on X that Stan would be cast as Harvey Dent, the Gotham district attorney and villain known as Two-Face, posting the news with a picture of the character in reply to his own tweet.

It’s still unknown if Harvey Dent will be scarred and become the villain Two-Face in the next Batman movie, or if he’ll continue as Gotham’s respected district attorney.

If Stan joins the cast of The Batman 2, he’ll be in the unusual position of working on projects for both Marvel and DC. He’s already set to return for Avengers: Secret Wars, and filming for that movie will begin around the same time as The Batman 2, with Secret Wars expected to be released in late 2027.

Barry Keoghan – Joker

In addition to news about Sebastian Stan joining the cast of The Batman 2, Variety reported that Barry Keoghan, an Oscar nominee, will return as The Joker. Keoghan first appeared as the Joker in a brief scene in The Batman shortly after playing the powerful, mind-controlling character Druig in Eternals.

Barry Keoghan had a small role in The Batman, appearing briefly as the Joker while visiting Paul Dano’s character, The Riddler, in Arkham Asylum. A longer, five-minute scene that was cut from the film later surfaced online, showing Batman consulting with the Joker for assistance with the Riddler case.

Although Matt Reeves hasn’t announced who the main villain will be in The Batman 2, he’s confirmed that 12 well-known Gotham villains, like the Joker and Two-Face, won’t be the primary focus, suggesting they’ll likely have smaller roles.
