Finn Wolfhard To Host Saturday Night Live After Stranger Things Finale

Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, is starting a new TV project now that the show has finished. Stranger Things launched him to fame in 2016, and since then he’s appeared in several films, including It, It Chapter Two, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and Saturday Night.

Finn Wolfhard will be hosting Saturday Night Live on January 17th. A$AP Rocky will be the musical guest, performing songs from his new album, Don’t Be Dumb.

Teyana Taylor will host Saturday Night Live on January 24th, with a musical performance by the band Geese, who recently put out their album Getting Killed. The following week, January 31st, Alexander Skarsgård will host with musical guest Cardi B, who released her album Am I the Drama? late in 2025.

Wolfhard, Taylor and Skarsgård have never hosted SNL before.

Wolfhard hosting SNL this month is great timing. He’s fresh off a starring role in a hugely popular Netflix series, and he’s actually already familiar with the show.

In 2024, the actor portrayed a behind-the-scenes assistant at NBC in the movie Saturday Night, which tells the story of how Lorne Michaels created the first episode of Saturday Night Live.

It’s common for celebrities to host Saturday Night Live when they have something new to promote. Taylor, for instance, is hosting right before the Golden Globes announce whether she’ll win Best Supporting Actress for her role in the hit movie One Battle After Another, which has already earned over $205 million.

Alexander Skarsgård will soon appear in two new films: The Moment, releasing January 30th, and Pillion, which comes to U.S. theaters on February 6th.

Even while starring in Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard has kept busy with other projects over the last ten years. Now that the show is finished, he’s planning to dedicate more time to his music. He’s played with two bands recently, Calpurnia and The Aubreys.

Finn Wolfhard released his debut solo album, Happy Birthday, in June 2025. Later that year, while celebrating the conclusion of Stranger Things, he performed “Trailers After Dark” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

He isn’t retiring from acting completely. He’s already committed to a role in the movie Crash Land, and he’s also going to produce and write a film about the band The Replacements.

Before starting his other work, Wolfhard will host Saturday Night Live. He’ll appear in the first episode of 2026, which will also be the first since Bowen Yang left the show in December.

Appearing on SNL is a great way for Wolfhard to wrap up his work on Stranger Things and launch the next phase of his career.

Saturday Night Live returns Saturday, January 17 at 11:29 p.m. EST on NBC.
