Wednesday Season 3 Gets Disappointing Official Release Update From Netflix

Netflix recently gave fans an update on the future of Wednesday, and it wasn’t what many were hoping to hear. Despite the show being renewed for a third season before Season 2 even came out – a move that surprised a lot of people – there’s no clear timeline for when new episodes will be available. After all the anticipation around Season 2, viewers are now wondering how long they’ll have to wait for more.

Netflix has announced that Season 3 of “Wednesday” won’t be available until at least 2027. The streaming service recently shared its plans for 2026 releases on its Tudum website, featuring shows like “One Piece,” “Outer Banks,” and a new version of “Pride and Prejudice.” However, “Wednesday” was not included in this list, despite the announcement of Season 3 back in July 2025.

Deadline reported that the show is expected to come out sometime in 2027. Casting is currently underway, including for Eva Green’s character, Aunt Ophelia Frump. Filming is rumored to start in the next few weeks, around February 2026.

After some uncertainty due to issues with Jenna Ortega’s schedule and the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the second season of Wednesday premiered on Netflix in November 2025. Despite the delays, Netflix heavily promoted the new season as a major release.

Wednesday is a Netflix series based on The Addams Family, focusing on Wednesday Addams, the eldest of the three children. The show stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Evie Templeton, Luiz Guzman, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and follows Wednesday as she attends Nevermore Academy. While the exact plot details are still a secret, the first two seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix.

When To Expect Wednesday Season 3

The second season of Wednesday was delayed due to the Hollywood strikes, but production of Season 3 is expected to run smoothly. If everything stays on track, filming should begin in February and continue throughout most of 2026. Netflix is also planning for potential reshoots either late in 2026 or early in 2027.

With Season 2 of Wednesday ending on several dramatic cliffhangers, some of the show’s actors have shared their hopes for Season 3. Fans are especially curious about a few key storylines: will Enid be permanently stuck as a werewolf? What will Tyler do now that he’s joined a pack of rogue werewolves? And will Isaac Knight’s spirit continue to appear after his heart was damaged?

The show probably won’t be released until at least mid-2027 to allow enough time for filming and editing. If the creators want to tie the release to Halloween, a September or October 2027 launch is possible. While that’s still almost two years away, it would be a shorter wait than the time between the first and second seasons.
