Netflix is already planning a third season that will dramatically change the show, taking it in a completely new direction.

For the first two seasons, the live-action adaptation of One Piece focused on building a strong story with exciting adventures and a heartwarming found family. While action was present, the show prioritized character development and establishing the vast world of the Grand Line and its many pirates. This careful groundwork sets up season three to deliver on the promise of a truly action-packed experience.

As a huge One Piece fan, I’m really excited about what’s coming! Season two did a fantastic job setting up the story for Alabasta, introducing us to the desert kingdom and its princess. It’s clear things aren’t great there, with that dangerous Crocodile pulling the strings. Luffy was gearing up for a showdown by the end of season two, and now season three is officially bringing the whole Alabasta arc to life. From what I’ve heard, this arc is going to be a lot more action-packed than what we’ve seen so far, which is a really cool change of pace for the show.

One Piece Season 3’s New Genre Better Represents What The Show’s Future Will Be

For a while, One Piece mainly featured smaller fights, with Luffy’s battle against Arlong being the largest one so far. However, the conflict surrounding Nami’s freedom feels minor compared to the war happening in Alabasta. This arc introduces exciting new fighting styles thanks to the Logia Devil Fruit powers, but it also challenges Luffy’s reliance on pure strength. Crocodile is one of the first enemies Luffy faces who is naturally more powerful, pushing him to think strategically and find new ways to fight.

The other members of Luffy’s pirate crew also face serious challenges through direct combat. While Crocodile has many strong allies, his real power comes from controlling the people of Alabasta. Even though Vivi tries hard to help, the citizens are exhausted by the ongoing conflict, and Crocodile uses this to his advantage. He prefers to let others fight his battles, manipulating the public instead of fighting the Straw Hat Crew himself. Luffy sees Crocodile as a particularly dangerous villain because he doesn’t care who gets hurt, which will make their fight in season three of One Piece even more intense.

The Alabasta arc introduces exciting new characters like Portgas D. Ace and combines thrilling action with themes of politics and personal liberty.
