As the release of the Michael biopic approaches in just a few days, predictions for its opening weekend box office numbers have significantly increased.
Reports from Deadline suggest the new movie Michael is expected to bring in $150 million worldwide during its opening weekend. In the United States, it’s predicted to earn between $65 and $70 million – a jump from earlier estimates of $50 to $60 million. International earnings are currently forecast to be between $75 and $80 million.
If current estimates are accurate, Michael is expected to open domestically with higher numbers than other popular music biopics like Straight Outta Compton and Bohemian Rhapsody (which opened with $60.2 million and $51 million, respectively). This would make it the highest-grossing opening weekend ever for a film in this genre.
