The box office results for the weekend of April 17th-19th, 2026 are in, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie from Universal is still number one. The film has been the top earner for three weeks straight, bringing in another $35 million in the US. Worldwide, it’s now made almost $750 million, making it the highest-grossing movie of 2026 so far.

The sci-fi film Project Hail Mary is performing exceptionally well, earning another $20 million in North America over the last five weeks. With a worldwide total of over $570 million, it’s currently the third-highest-grossing movie of the year, trailing only The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Pegasus 3. Starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, this adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel is a major contender for the year’s biggest hits.
Rounding out the top three is a new entry, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. This film reimagines the story from the Brendan Fraser franchise and stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, and May Calamawy. The supernatural horror movie earned $13.5 million domestically and over $34 million worldwide during its opening weekend.
Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s movie, The Drama, a blend of romance and suspense, earned almost $5 million in its third week, bringing its worldwide total to over $80 million. Further down the list, the lighter romantic comedy You, Me & Tuscany, directed by Kat Coiro and starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page, took in just under $4 million domestically, landing it at number five for the week.
