Harrison Ford‘s hit science-fiction classic, which made 70x its budget, officially drops on Hulu.
Harrison Ford is a Hollywood icon who began acting in 1966. He first gained attention in films like American Graffiti and The Conversation, but became world-famous for his roles as Han Solo in the Star Wars saga and Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones movies, a character he played from 1981 to 2023.
Harrison Ford has starred in some incredibly successful and well-regarded films, including classics like Blade Runner, The Fugitive, and Witness, for which he received an Oscar nomination. More recently, he’s moved into television with shows like Shrinking and 1923. Despite this, he remains a movie icon, and one of his most famous films will soon be available to stream on Hulu.
Released in 1977, Star Wars, written and directed by George Lucas, quickly became a massive cultural hit. Made for just $11 million, the film earned an impressive $775 million at the box office. It’s now considered one of the most important and recognizable movies ever made, and it launched a hugely successful franchise including three complete trilogies, two separate films, and numerous TV series.
The classic film, originally released as Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, will be available to stream on Hulu starting May 1st. While it’s already on Disney+ (which owns the Star Wars series), Hulu subscribers will soon be able to watch this iconic space adventure too.
With its release date, the movie is perfectly timed for strong summer viewership. While some might have wished it came out on May 4th – Star Wars Day – it’s still expected to be a big hit. After all, it’s a landmark film and the one that started a hugely popular franchise.
I’ll always remember Harrison Ford as Han Solo – he became that character, and it’s arguably the role he’s most famous for. He brought Han to life in five Star Wars films, even making a surprise appearance in The Rise of Skywalker back in 2019. Honestly, when I think of Star Wars, I immediately think of him as Han – he’s just so perfectly associated with the whole saga.
With Ford continuing to appear on television, the release of Star Wars on Hulu will introduce a new generation to both the classic film and the actor who starred in it.
