Alien: Earth Season 2 Films in the Same Place As the Original Alien Trilogy

The second season of Alien: Earth is shifting production to Pinewood Studios in the UK. This move is intended to better capture the feel of the original Alien films, as Pinewood Studios was also where Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, and Prometheus were made. Season 1 was filmed in Thailand.

According to showrunner Noah Hawley, production on Alien: Earth will begin this summer. He says they’re nearing the start of filming and he recently saw the sets and costumes being created, which he found exciting. While they filmed successfully in Thailand, Hawley believes London is a more suitable location for the show’s future.

There’s a family connection behind the scenes of Alien: Earth and the original Alien film. Neil Lamon, the production designer for the series, is the son of Peter Lamon, who designed the visuals for the original movie.

Hawley mentioned that Neil worked on the project when he was a teenager. He expressed his appreciation for the personal connection fans have with the franchise, and praised the British art department as being exceptionally skilled and consistently delivering top-quality work, even with challenging concepts.

Alien: Earth Season 2 Will Expand on the Promise of Season 1

In the interview, Hawley hinted at what viewers can expect in the second season of Alien: Earth. He explained that the new season will build upon the elements that made the first season so popular. According to Hawley, Season 2 “definitely delivers on the potential of the first season,” and will be a larger-scale production with more focus on developing the world of the show. He believes there’s no better setting for this expanded vision.

Hawley also talked about adding Peter Dinklage, known for his role in Game of Thrones, to the show’s second season. He wouldn’t reveal what character Dinklage will play, but hinted that it’s a significant part. Hawley, who enjoys writing for large casts and creating memorable characters, believes Dinklage’s role will be fitting for his talent and fans will appreciate it.
