Daniel Radcliffe names his favorite and least favorite Harry Potter movies
Daniel Radcliffe recently shared his favorite Harry Potter movie on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz. He picked a winner by ranking all the films in the series head-to-head.
Horowitz began by pitting Sorcerer’s Stone against Chamber of Secrets. Radcliffe chose the latter, explaining, “I would take Chamber of Secrets out of those two because I love the Basilisk.” During the second round, when he was asked to choose between Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, the actor admitted that he might have an unpopular opinion.
“It’s a hard one, actually,” said Radcliffe. “I know a lot of people would expect me to pick Azkaban, and I get why, but I really enjoyed working on the fourth film,” he explained, ultimately choosing Goblet of Fire.
So, I asked him which of the Harry Potter films was his least favorite, and he didn’t hesitate. He immediately went with Order of the Phoenix as the best, and Half-Blood Prince as the one he liked the least. He was quick to say he still thinks Half-Blood Prince is a good movie, but personally, it just didn’t resonate with him as much as the others.
Radcliffe then picked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 as his favorite movie in the series. When choosing between Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows – Part 2, he ultimately declared the final film his top choice.
Daniel Radcliffe used to feel embarrassed looking back at his early work as a child actor. However, in a recent podcast interview with Scott Horowitz, he admitted that while he once cringed at those films, he now finds them charming. He now feels more embarrassed watching footage of himself as an 18 or 19-year-old.
Daniel Radcliffe most recently appeared in the comedy series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which first aired on January 18, 2026.
