Ben Stiller is a key creative force behind the popular and award-winning Apple TV+ show, Severance. The series has earned an impressive 41 Emmy nominations over its first two seasons, including recognition for Stiller himself as a director and a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. He’s now developing a new series with Apple TV+, extending his relationship with the platform beyond the planned third season of Severance, which is anticipated to arrive in 2027 or 2028.

The new movie, Is God Is, opened in theaters last week and has been a hit with both critics and audiences. It currently has a 98% rating from critics and an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating widespread praise.

Although Star Wars is usually suitable for all ages, some recent installments have pushed boundaries, particularly those released by Disney. The Last Jedi and The Acolyte include rare shirtless scenes, and Rogue One and its series Andor are notably darker in tone, with Rogue One culminating in the deaths of its primary characters.

The new Netflix film is a reimagining of the 2018 movie I Am Not an Easy Man. It follows Damien Sachs, a successful and confident advertising executive, who’s about to be promoted to CEO. After an accident, he wakes up in a world where women hold all the power. He’s now facing off against Alex Fox, who was once a quiet employee but is now a powerful executive in this alternate reality, forcing Damien to completely rethink his perspective.

When the creators of Tales from ’85 initially said it would fit directly into the established Stranger Things storyline, many fans were upset, feeling the spin-off strayed too far from what they loved. Thankfully, showrunner Eric Robles clarified that Tales from ’85 isn’t completely tied to the original timeline, which eased a lot of the fan concerns. Ultimately, Tales from ’85 is an enjoyable show, and it’s easier to appreciate when you don’t worry about it perfectly matching the canon. However, the spin-off does have noticeable flaws, particularly with its main characters.

Fans of Peaky Blinders already know a sequel series is coming to Netflix, and filming started this spring. Details are still limited, but some of the actors who will be returning have been announced.

As a critic, I remember Kenneth Branagh’s 2014 take on Jack Ryan as a solid attempt to reboot the franchise for a modern audience, following the classic films with Harrison Ford. It really dove into the world of espionage, and I found the focus on economic warfare to be a surprisingly compelling storyline. Honestly, though, I think it deserved a much wider audience than it received. It just didn’t quite click with viewers, which was a shame.
