Fans are celebrating the return of the beloved series . After six seasons, the show brought back Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, and will continue with the first full-length movie, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, scheduled for release in 2026.
Fans of Peaky Blinders already know a sequel series is coming to Netflix, and filming started this spring. Details are still limited, but some of the actors who will be returning have been announced.
Okay, so here’s some exciting casting news! Charles Heaton, who you probably know as Jonathan Byers from Stranger Things, is joining the Peaky Blinders universe. He’ll be playing Charles Shelby, the youngest son of Tommy Shelby, in the upcoming sequel series. It’s great to see a familiar face stepping into this world, and I’m really curious to see what he brings to the role.
Stranger Things Star Becomes a Shelby In Peaky Blinders Sequel
Noah Heaton’s first leading role since Stranger Things ended reveals he’s completely immersed in the character of Charles Shelby, and Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is excited to see how he continues to develop the part.
Knight shared with Netflix that the story will now be set in Birmingham in the early 1950s, after the war. He’s thrilled to have Jamie Bell playing Tommy Shelby’s eldest son, Duke, and Charlie Heaton joining the cast as Tommy’s youngest son, Charles Shelby. More cast members will be announced soon, and Peaky is back in production.
In addition to his other work, Heaton appears in the upcoming film Billy Knight, alongside Al Pacino. While the film has been shown at festivals, it’s not yet available to the public and is currently slated for a limited release in U.S. theaters in August 2026. He also had a small role as James Dycker in the HBO Max series Industry. However, his performance in the upcoming Peaky Blinders sequel could really establish him as a noteworthy actor beyond his recognition from Stranger Things.
What Is The Peaky Blinders Sequel About?
Netflix describes the project as an in-depth look at the Shelby family’s future. Set after the Birmingham Blitz in the 1950s, it’s a tense political thriller where different groups violently compete for power during a time of widespread chaos.
Knight explained that the show will once again be set in Birmingham, continuing the story of the city rebuilding after the bombing raids of World War II. This time, however, the story will focus on a new generation of the Shelby family, and he promises it will be an exciting and dramatic season.
Knight and the team aren’t sharing many details yet, but the cast list is growing. In addition to Heaton and Bell, Cal O’Driscoll (known for Vikings: Valhalla and Video Nasty), Fintan Shevlin (How to Get to Heaven from Belfast), and Jacob Wright (Mary’s Lake) have joined the project.
Although the original Peaky Blinders series ended four years ago, the story received a significant boost in 2026 with ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.’ Now, there’s no doubt that Steven Knight will continue telling the story of this iconic television crime family.
All six seasons of Peaky Blinders, and The Immortal Man, are currently streaming on Netflix.
