Tom Felton’s Period Parody Fackham Hall Premieres on HBO Max in March 2026

As a film buff, I was really following what the actor best known for Harry Potter was up to in 2025, and it all led to this hilarious movie, Fackham Hall. It’s a pretty raunchy period piece – think Downton Abbey with a lot more adult humor. If you liked the vibe of Downton Abbey but wanted something a bit wilder, this was definitely it!

The movie Fackham Hall, which came out in theaters on December 5th, will be available to stream on HBO Max starting March 6th. While it didn’t make a huge splash in cinemas, it now has a chance to find a wider audience through streaming.

As a total movie buff, I’d describe this comedy as a really fun throwback, kind of like Airplane! It’s about this charming pickpocket who unexpectedly lands a job at a fancy English manor. Things get wild when he falls for someone and gets caught up in a murder mystery – talk about a twist!

What Is Fackham Hall About?

Tom Felton isn’t new to historical movies, having already worked on several period pieces. He previously starred in the 2013 drama Belle, which is set in the 18th century, and also appeared in the 1860s thriller In Secret that same year.

He appeared in the 2016 film Risen, a religious action-mystery, playing the character Lucius Tyco Ennius. In 2018, he starred in a new take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet called Ophelia, which also featured Daisy Ridley, known from Star Wars, in the lead role.

Eric finds work at a beautiful, old manor, and quickly becomes a valued employee. He also falls in love with Rose Davenport, the lady of the house, but their relationship must be kept secret. When someone is murdered, Eric is wrongly accused, putting Rose and her family in serious danger.

The parody was well-received, earning a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating with 75% approval from both critics and general audiences. Its score on IMDb is 6.4 out of 10.

The movie Fackham Hall didn’t perform well at the box office, earning only $3 million worldwide, as reported by The Numbers. While the film’s production budget isn’t public, it was probably reasonable given the actors involved.

Fackham Hall Has a Superstar Cast

Felton stars as Archibald Davenport, a relative of the Davenport family. He’s planning to marry his cousin, Poppy, to ensure their family estate, Fackham Hall, stays within the family.

I’m really excited about this parody! It’s directed by Jim O’Hanlon, who I loved from Your Christmas or Mine? – such a fun movie! The writing team is fantastic too – Steve Dawson, Andrew Dawson, Tim Inman, Jimmy Carr, and Patrick Carr all worked on the script. And it’s being produced by Danny Perkins, Kris Thykier, and Mila Cottray, so it’s in good hands.

In addition to Felton, Fackham Hall boasts a talented cast including Thomasin McKenzie, Ben Radcliffe, Emma Laird, Tom Goodman-Hill, Ramon Tikaram, Tim McMullan, Anna Maxwell Martin, Sue Johnston, and Damian Lewis.

Fackham Hall wasn’t just home to a Harry Potter star. Katherine Waterson, who played Tina Goldstein in the Fantastic Beasts films, was also part of the cast. While she wasn’t in the original Harry Potter series, she was a leading character in Fantastic Beasts, portraying an American Auror at MACUSA who develops a romantic connection with Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne. She continued to play Tina Goldstein in the following movies.

Fackham Hall debuts on HBO Max on Mar. 6.
