LEGO recently announced its first Pokémon sets, and fans are excited about what could come next! Pokémon is the latest video game series to be recreated with LEGO bricks. The new collection, which includes six sets (with one special set just for LEGO Insiders members), will be available later this year, giving fans another fun way to celebrate the popular game.

These initial releases are probably just the start of many more to come. This is particularly true for Pokémon, which continues to be one of the biggest entertainment franchises globally.

With more games planned for release this year and a new live-action Pokémon series coming to Netflix, LEGO should continue building on this success and create even more collectibles for fans.

10 Pokémon LEGO Sets We Need Right Now

Gen 2 Starters Set

Since the first generation of Pokémon starters received their own LEGO set as part of the initial Pokémon LEGO release, it’s logical to expect that LEGO will create a set featuring the second generation starters in a future release.

Based on previously announced plans, this set would likely be a large, detailed display featuring the final evolved forms of the starter Pokémon from the Pokémon Gold and Silver games – Meganium, Feraligatr, and Typhlosion. There’s currently a huge amount of excitement and fondness for the older generations of Pokémon games.

A new release inspired by the Gold and Silver Pokémon games would be ideal for dedicated fans who grew up with those classics.

Legendary Birds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres)

A diorama set featuring the legendary birds from the original Pokémon Red and Blue games would be a great addition to this series.

Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos – this trio of legendary birds – are among the most recognizable creatures in the whole series.

As a huge LEGO and Pokémon fan, I was thrilled to see the Gen 1 starters announced as LEGO sets! It really proves LEGO can deliver these awesome, display-worthy builds that fans will be proud to show off. And honestly, the legendary birds – Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres – seem perfect for that kind of treatment; they’re practically begging to be built and put on display!

Mew & Mewtwo

Although Mew and Mewtwo are listed as separate Pokémon, they’ll always be connected in fans’ minds.

Mew is considered the original, god-like Pokémon. Scientists later used Mew’s genetic code to create Mewtwo, a powerful, artificially-made Pokémon designed to possess similar incredible abilities.

The Mewtwo experiments didn’t go as expected; Mewtwo quickly became hostile towards humans and tried to start a Pokémon rebellion against their trainers. Because of their strong connection and iconic status in the Pokémon world, Mewtwo and its clone would make excellent LEGO sets.

Dragonite

As a lifelong cinema – I mean, Pokémon – fan, I’ve noticed a trend: we love dragons! Whether it’s Charizard, Groudon, or Salamence, those powerful, scaled Pokémon just really grab our attention, and honestly, who can blame us? They’re seriously awesome creatures.

Dragonite is a classic Pokémon and one of the first dragon-type characters many fans fell in love with. As the final form in the Dratini evolution, it’s a large, friendly-looking winged Pokémon that seems equally capable of being a loyal companion and a powerful fighter.

This character, a classic from the very beginning of the series, seems like a perfect fit for LEGO’s larger, detailed sets – similar to the recently released Pikachu and Eevee models.

Lucario

Lucario is arguably the coolest Pokémon. First appearing in the 2006 games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (Generation 4), it evolves from the cute Riolu and resembles a skilled, fox-like ninja.

Since it first appeared in the world of Pokémon, Lucario has become a fan favorite and one of the most popular characters in the series.

Pikachu is incredibly popular – it’s one of the few characters to have its own playable slot in the famous Super Smash Bros. series. A 2025 Japanese fan poll, shared on Reddit, even ranked it as the second-most-loved Pokémon of all time.

Greninja

Right after Lucario in a recent fan poll of Japanese Pokémon fans, you’ll find Greninja. It ranks as the third most popular Pokémon overall and the second most popular starter Pokémon, trailing only the incredibly popular Charizard.

Greninja, which evolves from Froakie, is a popular Pokémon known for its ninja-like abilities. Like Lucario, it’s also a playable fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series.

Greninja quickly became a popular Pokémon, first appearing in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Its distinctive pose – like a superhero with a hand on the ground – makes it a perfect fit for a LEGO set.

Eevee-lutions Set

A LEGO set featuring the different forms of Eevee could be one of the largest LEGO has ever created (you can find information about LEGO’s biggest sets here). Eevee, a popular fox-like Pokémon first appearing in the original games, is unique because it can evolve into multiple different forms depending on which elemental stone it’s exposed to.

Over time, Pokémon has introduced many new forms Eevee can evolve into. Now, there are eight different Eevee evolutions, also known as Eevee-lutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

This collectible could feature a small Eevee surrounded by all eight of its evolved forms, creating a unique and eye-catching display piece for fans.

Ho-Oh & Lugia

Just as the legendary birds from the first generation of Pokémon would be great as a LEGO set, the second generation’s legendary Pokémon deserve the same treatment. Ho-Oh and Lugia were featured on the covers of Pokémon Gold and Silver when those games were originally released.

Lugia and Ho-Oh, often called the Tower Duo, are incredibly powerful Pokémon who protect the seas and skies, respectively. They played a central role in the Pokémon Gold and Silver games and are among the most recognizable legendary Pokémon ever created.

A LEGO set featuring these two characters would be amazing! Since they each represent different aspects of the Pokémon universe, the set could show them battling in the air, with water and wind effects adding to the action.

Rayquaza

Rayquaza is a legendary Pokémon that would be perfect as a LEGO set. Introduced in Generation 3 with the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire games, it was the generation’s main hidden legendary Pokémon – similar to Mewtwo in the first generation of games.

Rayquaza later became the central mascot for the game Pokémon Emerald. This powerful Pokémon is considered one of the oldest and strongest, and it protects the planet by consuming meteors that threaten to hit Earth.

Upcoming Gen 10 Starter Trio

To make its Pokémon LEGO sets even more appealing, LEGO could create a new set featuring the starter Pokémon from the upcoming Generation 10 games, releasing it alongside the games themselves.

The next generation of Pokémon games, Generation 10, is expected to release around late 2026. Currently known as Pokémon Wind and Waves, these new games will continue the tradition of letting players choose from three different starter Pokémon when they begin their adventure.

Launching Generation 10 with a LEGO set featuring the new starter Pokémon is a great idea! LEGO often focuses on nostalgic themes, but this would be a fresh way for them to connect with current trends and what fans are excited about right now.
