Now that several follow-up shows are in development, it’s possible we might see Daenerys Targaryen appear again. We already know a sequel will likely feature Jon Snow, so it’s certainly possible Daenerys could return as well – and some fan-made artwork shows us what that could look like.

In the final episode of Game of Thrones, Jon killed Daenerys, but the show had already established that people could come back from the dead. Shortly after the episode aired, a fan of the show and George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books created artwork depicting Daenerys being resurrected.

The ending of Game of Thrones left many dedicated fans feeling disappointed, especially how the show handled Daenerys Targaryen. Her death, happening while she was kissing Jon Snow, felt unearned to most viewers. They didn’t find her turn towards supposed madness believable, and didn’t think she deserved such a tragic fate.

Bringing Daenerys Targaryen back to life would be a huge challenge for the creators of Game of Thrones, but fans would probably love it. Even though she became a more complicated character with questionable choices, Daenerys remained popular with viewers until the very end.

Fans Have Imagined What Daenerys’ Resurrection Would Look Like

Illustrator Marlene Freimanis, a dedicated fan of Game of Thrones (known as madmarzii on Reddit), has created stunning artwork imagining what a sequel series featuring Daenerys Targaryen might look like. Shortly after the original series concluded, Freimanis produced a detailed illustration depicting Daenerys resurrected and surrounded by dragons.

The artwork depicts Daenerys with glowing red eyes and a bloodied face, showing the wounds from Jon Snow’s fatal blow. Her robe is ripped, and she’s surrounded by three small dragons that resemble her children, Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.

This stunning artwork, believed to be incomplete when Marlene Freimanis shared it, realistically imagines what Daenerys Targaryen might look like if she returned in a potential Game of Thrones continuation. However, whether a return will actually happen is up to the show’s creators, not the fans.

What Are The Chances Daenerys Returns In A Game Of Thrones Sequel?

Both George R.R. Martin and HBO have said that several Game of Thrones sequels are being developed, including a show focusing on Jon Snow. Some believe this new series could offer a way to bring back Daenerys Targaryen, even though the actress who played her, Emilia Clarke, has stated she doesn’t plan to reprise the role.

Viewers will likely need to accept that Clarke’s character is probably gone for good, especially since Game of Thrones established the original and definitive way she died.
