Paul Bettany Unveils Major Spoiler for 2026’s WandaVision Sequel

Paul Bettany revealed a key plot detail about the upcoming 2026 Marvel Studios sequel to WandaVision, titled VisionQuest. The film will finish the storyline that started with WandaVision and continued in the Agatha: All Along series, and will feature several familiar characters from throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During a panel at New York Comic-Con with Brandon Davis of Phase Hero, Paul Bettany explained how Red Vision transferred all of his memories to White Vision in the finale of WandaVision. He clarified that this included memories created within the Hex, even though the show only showed a brief montage of memories from outside the Hex before White Vision left.

The show really needs a creative leader to develop compelling storylines. What’s unique about Vision now is that Red Vision transferred all his memories – even those from the Hex – but White Vision is struggling to actually feel those memories. He has the knowledge, but lacks the emotional connection. The show will likely focus on White Vision’s efforts to rediscover who he was by connecting with those lost feelings.

He explained what draws him back to the series, praising VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas for presenting him with a compelling story arc for his character. He also expressed gratitude to Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, stating that the MCU shows are essentially created by fans, which is what truly sets them apart.

Honestly, it’s not just about the paycheck. I’m always curious about where Vision’s story could go next, and when Terry Matalas came along with his pitch, it was incredible – a really gripping plot! That’s when I knew I was in, and seeing the positive response from fans sealed the deal. It’s amazing because these movies and shows are truly made by fans, people who love these characters as much as we do, and that’s what makes them so special. It feels like we’re all making them together, for each other.

The final episode of WandaVision showed Bettany’s Vision restoring the memories of the original Vision to White Vision, who was built to stop Wanda Maximoff. Now, White Vision also has a complete record of everything that happened inside the Hex, and must figure out how those events differ from reality.

How Vision’s Memories Will Impact VisionQuest Story

Following the unique, sitcom-inspired story of WandaVision, Paul Bettany’s Vision became a more complex character, expanding on his history from previous films. It’s not surprising that these experiences are part of the memories Red Vision transferred to White Vision, but it does make the character’s future even more interesting.

This series will focus on Vision as he grapples with memories that aren’t his own – he knows about the original Vision’s life, but didn’t live it. To make things even more complicated, familiar Marvel villains like Ultron are back, and they all have plans to exploit Vision for their own gain, creating a lot of conflict for him.

The upcoming series will feature an adult Tommy Maximoff, following his introduction with his brother Billy as the children of Wanda and Vision in WandaVision. White Vision will grapple with the loss of both Wanda and his family while also battling familiar enemies, including Ultron (played by James Spader), to survive.

Though the story isn’t finished yet, VisionQuest will bring together all the storylines and mysteries that were introduced in WandaVision and Agatha All Along, focusing on the history of Wanda’s husband, Vision.

VisionQuest is the third installment in a Marvel Cinematic Universe story arc that began with WandaVision, and it’s planned as part of Phase 6 of the MCU. The series stars Paul Bettany, Ruaridh Mollica, James Spader, Henry Lewis, Emily Hampshire, and James D’Arcy, and will follow Vision as he journeys around the world to discover who he truly is and what his purpose is. VisionQuest is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
