Okay, so I’m a huge fan of Five Nights at Freddy’s, and I just heard some news about the sequel that’s a little disappointing. Matthew Lillard, who’s awesome in Scream, is coming back as William Afton, which is great! But apparently, he won’t be on screen a lot – at least not initially. It’s a bit of a bummer, honestly, because I was really hoping to see more of him as that character, but I’m still excited to see what they do with the story!
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 continues the story a year after the first movie, with Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Lillard returning as their original characters. Although the writer and creator of the series, Scott Cawthon, managed to include William Afton in the sequel, Lillard has said he doesn’t have a large amount of screen time.
You won’t see much of my character, William Afton, in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Similar to how villains like Darth Vader or Voldemort appear later in their respective stories, my role is saved for future installments. While I don’t have a large part in this particular film, I really enjoy the scenes I do get to play. We’re hoping to make three movies in total – that’s always been the goal – but everything depends on how well this first movie performs in theaters.
Is ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 3’ Coming? Apparently, It All Depends on the Fans

Universal Pictures
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was a big success when it came out in 2023. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic changed how people went to the movies and favored streaming, Universal Pictures still released it widely in theaters and on their Peacock streaming service at the same time. Despite concerns about how that dual release might affect ticket sales, the movie, based on the popular video game, proved to be a major turning point.
Despite being released on streaming the same day it came out in cinemas, Five Nights at Freddy’s was a huge success in theaters, driven by enthusiastic fans. The movie earned over $297 million with a production budget of just $20 million. While critics weren’t impressed, it was still considered a win for Blumhouse Productions, and Jason Blum immediately started planning a follow-up.
Okay, so everyone’s hoping the new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie does well, trying to recapture the magic of the first one. Honestly, beating the original will be tough, but you never know – the fanbase is still huge! The big difference this time is it’s hitting theaters right away, not going to Peacock like the first film. And apparently, if we actually go see it, there’s a good chance they’ll make a Five Nights at Freddy’s 3! So, it’s up to us, the fans, to show our support.
We’re aiming for an epic showdown like the battles between Harry Potter and Voldemort or Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader – that’s what we’re hoping to achieve with Five Nights at Freddy’s 3. We want to build on that and delve deeper into the story, but right now, our main focus is getting audiences into the theaters.
