Harry Potter’s New Draco Malfoy Lox Pratt Reveals How the HBO Reboot Changes the Villain

HBO is turning the books into a TV series. They plan to cover one book per season, which will allow them to develop the characters and world in greater detail.

Lox Pratt, the new actor playing Draco Malfoy, recently discussed how he’s approaching the iconic character. In the original eight Harry Potter films, Draco was portrayed as a villain. However, the previous actor was so well-liked that fans ended up feeling more sympathetic towards Draco than perhaps intended.

Lox Pratt Reveals How Harry Potter Changes Draco

Chris Pratt shared that his character will have a bigger role in the new show compared to Tom Felton’s in the films. Although Felton’s character was important to the story, he only appeared on screen for about 30 minutes total throughout all seven movies. Pratt expects to have more screentime than that in the series.

I’m still playing Draco, but I’m adding my own take on the character,” the 14-year-old explained. “He’s much more complex now, with a lot more to him.

You know, when the first trailer dropped and we got that super quick peek at my Draco, I was actually relieved they didn’t show too much. I was happy it was just a flash – a real blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment! I’m really excited for audiences to finally see him because this version of Draco is a huge departure from what people are used to seeing in the original films.

This actor is early in his career, but he’s already played two significant villains. He’s set to appear as a villain in the upcoming Harry Potter project, and recently starred as Jack in , which debuted on Netflix on May 4th.

You know, when people ask me about playing both Jack and Draco, I always point out how different their darkness really is. Draco’s a really interesting case – he’s got all this love around him, but he’s crushed by the weight of his family and constantly trying to measure up to his dad. It’s a really specific kind of pain. But with Jack, it felt simpler, in a way. He just never got that love, and honestly, he didn’t even seem to need it. It was like he was complete on his own, even in his sadness.

The actor admitted he enjoys playing villains, explaining there’s more creative freedom in those roles. However, he doesn’t plan on taking another villainous part immediately after this current one.

The Harry Potter Series Is More Book Accurate

Details about the upcoming series are still scarce, but it appears Warner Bros. is keeping its promise to closely follow the source material. The latest hint suggests the ending will be particularly faithful to the books.

Dominic McLaughlin and other actors were spotted filming at Waterloo station in London, likely shooting the season finale. Unlike the movie, which ended with Harry famously declaring, “I’m not going home. Not really,” the series appears to show Harry, Ron, Fred, George, and Percy returning from Hogwarts to be met by Molly Weasley and Vernon Dursley at the train station.

Since Draco Malfoy plays a significant role in the books, it makes sense for him to have a larger presence in the TV series, allowing for a deeper exploration of his character. The actor playing him has also indicated he’s open to this.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, as Season 1 is titled, will .
