Another Marvel Comics Crime Boss May Be Hiding In Spider-Man’s Live-Action Show

Hints about the Spider-Noir character suggest a third major crime boss from Marvel Comics could appear in the upcoming live-action Spider-Man series on Prime Video. Brendan Gleeson and Abraham Popoola are already confirmed to play Silvermane and Tombstone, two key figures in the Marvel criminal world, and will be central to the eight-episode story.

As a huge Marvel fan, I think both of these characters definitely have the power and cunning to really challenge Spider-Man, especially Ben Reilly. They’re known for being major crime bosses in the comics, always cooking up elaborate plans, and honestly, either one could easily be the big bad guy in a Spider-Man movie or series. But I get the feeling that Spider-Man’s world of organized crime is going to be much bigger than just these two – there’s a lot more going on under the surface, I think.

It wouldn’t be shocking if another crime boss appeared. The Marvel Universe is full of them, and heroes like Spider-Man and Daredevil constantly face these types of villains. It’s quite possible the story is setting up another one, since everything we know about Silvermane’s plans doesn’t completely rule it out.

Silvermane May Have A Gang Rival In Spider-Noir

Brendan Gleeson will be playing Silvermane in Spider-Noir, and it’s already known he’ll be a powerful crime boss who has repeatedly survived attempts on his life. This proves he’s a major player in the criminal world, with at least one enemy determined to eliminate him.

The latest trailer for Spider-Noir shows an interesting conversation between Nicolas Cage’s Spider and Silvermane. It suggests they might be rivals, but also share a worry about a bigger threat – hinting that another character is likely involved.

A preview about the villains in Spider-Noir indicates Tombstone won’t be the main antagonist. He’s presented as working for Silvermane, alongside Sandman and likely Megawatt. While Tombstone might try to take over from Silvermane eventually, if rumors of a gang war in Spider-Noir are true, a different character will be leading the opposing forces.

Other Marvel Comics Crime Bosses Who Could Appear In Spider-Noir

The animated series Spider-Noir hints at the possible appearance of the crime boss Mr. Negative, though it hasn’t officially confirmed his involvement. A brief shot in the black-and-white trailer showed a mysterious, glowing figure that looks very similar to the powerful Spider-Man villain and criminal mastermind.

Mr. Negative seems like a perfect choice to be Silvermane’s enemy in the criminal world. Hammerhead could also work well – his 1930s gangster style would fit the Spider-Noir atmosphere better than most of Spider-Man’s villains. However, since there’s been no indication that Hammerhead will be in the show, it’s unlikely he’ll appear unless the series gets renewed for another season.

There’s a chance Black Cat is secretly the villain. While Spider-Noir has shown her as a potential love interest for Ben Reilly and someone who will give him a crucial case, that doesn’t rule out her being the antagonist. Spider-Noir draws heavily from 1940s film noir, like The Maltese Falcon, where a detective helps a woman who is later revealed to be a killer. Since dangerous, deceptive women are central to film noir, Black Cat being a villain would fit perfectly with that classic style.
