Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Boys season 5, episode 3.The Boys are back.
Prime Video’s gritty superhero show, The Boys, has become a global hit, and the fifth and final season is set to deliver even more intense action. The fourth season was a huge win for the streaming service, attracting over 55 million viewers worldwide – a 20% increase from season three. The show has become a cornerstone of Prime Video’s lineup, alongside its spin-off Gen V and the upcoming series Vought Rising.
A recent preview for The Boys season 5, episode 4 shows a heated clash between the Boys and Homelander (Antony Starr) as the competition for V1 intensifies. Following the shocking events of episode 3, viewers are anticipating even more intense action and the devastating consequences of Homelander’s actions. Fans hope this will ultimately lead to his defeat, especially if Butcher (Karl Urban) can stop him.
The third episode of the show takes a dark turn when Homelander brutally attacks his son, Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), leaving him severely injured before Butcher intervenes. Earlier in the series, Ryan was absent and revealed to have been hiding in Russia before reconnecting with Zoe. This led to a tense conversation with Butcher, ultimately prompting Ryan to confront Homelander about how he treated his mother.
Both Soldier Boy and Homelander are searching for V1, a substance believed to make Homelander completely invulnerable and protect him from the super-virus Butcher’s team intends to use to kill him. However, Butcher and his crew have already reached the location, creating a dangerous conflict. Soldier Boy is unaffected by the virus and seems unstoppable, and while he despises Homelander and everything he represents, he is actually Homelander’s biological father.
Fans are also eagerly anticipating the return of several key characters from Godolkin University, especially Marie Moreau (played by Jaz Sinclair). She’s been hinted at throughout season 5, but hasn’t appeared on screen yet. Many believe her abilities could be crucial in defeating Homelander. After Starlight assisted her and her friends in the spin-off series Gen V, it seems likely she’ll soon join the main team.
According to creator Eric Kripke, we’ll see characters from Gen V appear before the end of The Boys season. Episode 4 might be when the two shows start to cross over. However, a major showdown – possibly between Homelander and the main characters – likely won’t happen until the season finale, as she wasn’t included in the promotional teaser.
The Boys is available to stream on Prime Video.
