With the premiere of the new show on HBO just a few months away, the official trailers from DC Studios have unexpectedly disappeared from most online platforms. While a short, vertical version remains on DC’s YouTube channel, the standard trailer isn’t currently available on the official pages for DC, HBO, or HBO Max.
Although the videos were removed from some YouTube channels, they haven’t been taken down everywhere. The trailer is still viewable on fan-run channels, which makes the original removal even more confusing.
Lanterns Trailers Removed from Official YouTube Channels
As a big DC fan, I’ve noticed the trailers for some of their upcoming shows have mysteriously disappeared from YouTube. DC and HBO haven’t said anything about it, and there’s no explanation as to why they’re gone. It’s probably just a coincidence, but the Lanterns trailer did get some negative reactions when it first dropped, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.
In a recent newsletter, Morrison questioned why a writer would take on a project they consider pointless. They compared it to giving scripts for a show like CSI to writers who dismiss forensic science, asking why anyone would hire someone who feels negatively about the source material they’re tasked with adapting. Morrison suggests these writers should simply decline work that doesn’t align with their beliefs or expertise.
They questioned why he felt the need to reject established superhero tropes, especially since he’s financially secure and known for his creativity. They wondered if he was trying to appear less of a fan, but pointed out it wouldn’t work. Ultimately, they felt starting a project by deliberately distancing himself from the fanbase seemed foolish and counterproductive.
Damon Lindelof Responded to Controversy
He angered Morrison by calling the name “Green Lantern” “stupid” during a podcast discussion about why the show was titled Lanterns.
As Otis Redding famously sang, ‘It’s my own fault,’ and I take full responsibility,” Linelof posted on Instagram. He admitted to making a silly joke on a comedy podcast, and while he won’t try to justify it or offer excuses, he wants to sincerely apologize to the fans, acknowledging they deserve an explanation and a true understanding of how he feels.
I remember the first time I was on a ComicCon panel – it was for back in the summer of 2004. I’d outgrown my old Green Lantern underpants – Hal Jordan, from Sector 2814, was my hero – so I wore my favorite T-shirt instead. As a shy and clumsy kid, I thought there was nothing cooler than a hero who used his imagination as a superpower. And I’m a huge fan of the color green – it’s been my favorite color since third grade, and I even have an old school questionnaire to prove it! Green is seriously awesome.
Lanterns is set to debut on HBO in August.
