Marvel Comics is planning a big celebration for its 65th anniversary! They just announced a special, extra-large anniversary issue coming out this August.

The latest issue of Fantastic Four, #15, with artwork by Humberto Ramos, promises a major adventure for Marvel’s First Family when it’s released on August 5, 2026. Marvel says the story will involve time travel, celebrating the team’s origins back in 1961 with the original Fantastic Four #1. The Fantastic Four will face their biggest challenges yet as they journey through different periods of their past, desperately trying to find a way back to the present. A dangerous enemy awaits them if they can return, and they’ll need help from an unexpected source to do so.

Marvel Goes Back in Time to Celebrate Fantastic Four’s Anniversary

The description for Fantastic Four #15 hints at a story deeply connected to the team’s history. Marvel promises a tale stretching “centuries of history and a universe of scientific progress!” The Fantastic Four are tumbling backwards in time, with their timelines reversed, and seem doomed unless someone can figure out how to help them.

Even if they succeed, they’re still in danger – a current threat is waiting to finish them off, assuming they even make it home alive! This is a story you absolutely won’t want to miss, as something this unique won’t come around again for sixty-five years. And believe it or not, Johnny’s mustache might just save New York City?!

Marvel shared the cover art for the upcoming issue of Fantastic Four (#15), illustrated by Ramos, and hinted at more announcements soon. On August 5th, they’ll also release Fantastic Four: 65 Years of The World’s Greatest Comic Covers, a special edition showcasing a collection of covers by many artists, along with insights from the creators.

Fantastic Four Author Teases Time-Bending Anniversary Issue

Ryan North, the writer of Fantastic Four, explained that the upcoming special issue is a tribute to the team’s lasting legacy. He said it’s been a privilege to contribute to both the 700th issue and now, the celebration of the team’s 65th anniversary.

This extra-long issue tells a story that jumps between different time periods, showing how the Fantastic Four have impacted both the world around them and their own relationships. It’s packed with science fiction, romance, excitement, and adventure. And apparently, there’s a significant development regarding Johnny Storm’s mustache – which sounds a little unbelievable!

Editor Tom Brevoort hinted that the upcoming issue will feature nods to iconic moments created by Fantastic Four legends like John Buscema, John Byrne, and Steve Epting, but with a fresh twist. He described it as the kind of imaginative and thrilling adventure fans expect from this acclaimed team, and a story designed to keep the series vibrant and groundbreaking for years to come.

Fantastic Four #15 goes on sale on Aug. 5.
