A fantastic actor who could play Miles Morales has recently gained attention, and Marvel should cast him quickly before he ages out of the role. The groundwork for Miles Morales joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe was laid back in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, when Miles’ uncle was introduced and hinted at having a nephew. Fans are eager to see Miles join the MCU, and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be the perfect opportunity.
Over the past few years, fans like me have been throwing around tons of names for who should play Miles Morales. But recently, one actor has really jumped to the front of the pack! It’s Blake Cameron James, the 15-year-old who played Will Hanlon in the huge 2025 TV show, IT: Welcome to Derry. Everyone’s talking about him now!
Before landing the role in Welcome to Derry, James had appeared in three other projects, but the HBO Max series really put him on the map and showcased his acting talent. He’s the perfect choice to play Miles, possessing all the qualities the role requires.
As we’ve discussed, James is quite young, only 15 years old. Marvel probably wants an actor who appears younger to create a believable older brother relationship with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. While Holland is now 29, he was 24 during the filming of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and his character was still around 17 years old at that time.
If Marvel wants a noticeable age difference between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, they’d probably introduce Miles as a 14 or 15-year-old in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since the actor playing Miles, James, is currently 15, he’s the ideal age for the role and could realistically portray a high school version of the character for several years.

James delivered a truly impressive performance in Welcome to Derry. As Will Hanlon, a key character in the story, he skillfully portrayed a wide range of emotions – from happiness and sadness to sheer terror – throughout the first season.
Similar to Will Hanlon in Welcome to Derry, Miles is portrayed as highly intelligent and eager to learn.
Many other talented actors could play Miles Morales in a movie. One promising candidate is Anthony B. Jenkins, a 12-year-old actor who recently appeared in Season 5 of Stranger Things. A lot of Marvel fans think he’d be a great fit for the role.
Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role as Lucas in Stranger Things, has long been a popular choice among fans to play Spider-Man. At 24, he’d be an older Miles Morales than previous actors, but Marvel Studios could still consider him. However, McLaughlin has expressed interest in playing a superhero for DC Comics, so his casting would depend on the direction Marvel wants to take with the character.
Percy Daggs IV would be a strong choice to play Miles. He’s a similar age to Anthony B. Jenkins, which would allow him to play the role for a long time. With over ten professional acting credits, including an upcoming role in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, he’s clearly capable of handling a big, high-profile project.
While many actors would be a good fit, Blake Cameron James really stands out. His age is just right, he’s a proven performer, and his experience in a popular franchise like IT makes him the ideal choice.
When Will Miles Morales Join the MCU?

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m getting really excited about the next Spider-Man movie planned for 2026! Everyone’s buzzing about whether Marvel will finally introduce Miles Morales into the main MCU. It feels like the ideal time, especially since it looks like Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will be getting a bit of a reboot. But honestly, knowing Marvel, they might hold off a little longer and keep us guessing!
If Marvel Studios continues with its plan for a three-movie ‘Brand New Day’ series, they might decide it’s best not to introduce Miles Morales in the first film. The decision largely hinges on how much Marvel wants to center the story around Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and whether they want him to be the sole focus for at least the initial movie.
It’s also possible the trilogy is designed to transition the Spider-Man role from Peter to Miles. This could involve introducing Miles as a small character in the first movie, giving him a bigger part in the second to build their connection, and then having him share the spotlight with Peter in the third, culminating in Peter officially passing the Spider-Man legacy to Miles.
Currently, it’s unclear what Marvel has planned for Miles Morales. He’s a hugely popular character that fans are eager to see in a movie or show. If Marvel wants to take advantage of this excitement – and they really should – they need to act soon.
