The popular TV series, known for its stories inspired by the Bible, is back this year with a brand new six-part event. The sixth season, which fans have been eagerly awaiting, now has a confirmed release date.
As a huge fan of The Chosen, I was thrilled to hear the official news: Season 6 is coming! Prime Video and 5&2 Studios have confirmed it will kick off with a three-episode premiere on November 15, 2026. Just like last season, it won’t be a full season – only six episodes total. They’ll release the remaining three episodes weekly, wrapping things up by December 6th. But the excitement doesn’t end there! They’re also planning a special, one-time theatrical event in Spring 2027 – they haven’t revealed what it is yet, but I’m already counting down the days!
I’m so excited for the next season! It’s going to cover the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life before the crucifixion, but what’s really cool is that we’ll see everything through the eyes of people who were actually there – like Peter, Mary Magdalene, and even Judas. It’s setting up for season seven, which will finally show the resurrection! Dallas Jenkins, the creator, has been hinting at how powerful these next episodes will be, and I can’t wait to see it all unfold.
Most people are familiar with the story of the crucifixion, but fewer understand the reasons behind it and the incredible things that happened during those 24 hours. We felt this deserved more than just a TV season – it needed to be a full-length movie – and we created it with that in mind, both in writing and filming.
Jonathan Roumie is back as Jesus for the new season. Many familiar faces will return alongside him, including Shahar Isaac as Simon Peter, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Noah James as Andrew, George H. Xanthis as John, Abe Bueno-Jallad as Big James, Vanessa Benavente as Mary, Luke Dimyan as Judas Iscariot, Richard Fancy as Caiaphas, Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod, and Andrew James Allen as Pontius Pilate.
The Chosen Is One of the Biggest Religious Series of All Time
Since its debut in 2019, The Chosen has become a hugely popular and successful series based on the Bible. Starting as a project funded by fans, it’s now expanded into a large-scale production, offering a seven-season reimagining of a timeless story. As the series nears its conclusion, it’s evident that The Chosen will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.
The world of The Chosen is growing with several new shows. These include The Chosen Adventures, an animated series for kids with fourteen episodes, and The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, a reality-style show. Plus, a sequel series continuing the story from the Book of Acts is being made, along with shows telling the backstories of biblical figures like Moses and Joseph.
Many believe The Chosen played a significant role in the recent increase in popularity of movies and TV shows with religious themes, inspiring similar projects. As the series approaches its next-to-last season, the story is nearing its end.
The Chosen Season 6 premieres on November 15, 2026, on Prime Video.
