Wilson Bethel explained the surprising reason behind Bullseye’s heroic actions in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. The actor shared what motivates his character’s unexpected turn.
Wilson Bethel reveals why Bullseye saved Daredevil from AVTF
The new season of Born Again started with a really intense fight! I watched as Daredevil battled officers working for Wilson Fisk, trying to save my friend Cherry, who actually had a health scare during the rescue. Seeing that brought back terrible memories of losing Foggy, and it really threw Daredevil off his game. He ended up getting beaten badly and, shockingly, unmasked by the task force.
While promoting the new seasons of ‘Born Again’ and ‘Imperfect Women,’ The Direct spoke with actor Vincent D’Onofrio about his character, Wilson Fisk. When asked why Fisk saved Daredevil, D’Onofrio explained that his character’s primary goal is now eliminating the Fisk family. He sees Daredevil as simply pursuing a similar objective, even though Daredevil doesn’t want to kill, just incapacitate them.
Bethel went on to explain that these characters initially find common ground because they share a goal. As the saying goes, ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend,’ and that’s how their relationship begins this season. We’re excited to watch how these two very different personalities interact.
In Season 2, Episode 2, Bullseye seemed more interested in Vanessa Fisk than in her husband, Mayor Fisk. This follows Vanessa’s earlier manipulation of Bullseye to try and kill Foggy Nelson, an event that left Poindexter wounded and in jail. He also went to the church that once helped Daredevil, hoping to find forgiveness, but discovered Sister Maggie wasn’t there.
Marvel had hinted that Bullseye would be seeking redemption in the second season of Born Again. Now that Jon Bernthal won’t be appearing as the Punisher this season, the show seems to be setting up Wilson Bethel’s character to fill a similar role as a complex, conflicted hero.
