Top Pokémon Winds & Waves Starter Wins Landslide Victory

The first new Starter character has been selected, and the results of the vote were surprisingly clear – the winner was a decisive favorite among fans.

Inside Games recently shared the results of its poll to find the most popular Starter Pokémon from the new Pokémon Winds & Waves game. The winner was clear: Pombon, the cute Fire-Type Puppy Pokémon, received a huge 43.3% of the 1,140 votes, easily beating the other Generation 10 starters.

Pokémon Winds & Waves’ Pombon Claims No. 1 Spot as Best Starter

Gecqua, the Water-Type Gecko Pokémon known for its cleverness, took second place with 34.6% of the votes. Growt, a Grass-Type Bean Chick Pokémon, finished third with 22.1%, putting it well behind the other two.

I recently learned some details about the next Pokémon games. They were unveiled just a few months after Pokémon Winds & Waves was announced, and it looks like this will be the 10th generation of the main series. As of now, Winds & Waves is planned to come out for the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2027.

The game’s beautiful environments are influenced by the cultures and landscapes of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Players will journey between many islands and also have the chance to explore large, detailed underwater areas.

I’m so excited for Pokémon Winds & Waves, but it’ll be a while before we can actually play it – at least another year! Luckily, there are tons of other Pokémon games to keep us busy in the meantime. Right now, Pokémon Pokopia is really capturing everyone’s attention, and honestly, it’s unlike any Pokémon game I’ve ever seen – it’s a totally fresh experience!

The game launched on March 5th and follows a Ditto in a desolate, post-apocalyptic version of Kanto, where all humans have vanished. After finding its trainer’s old Pokedex, the Ditto transforms into a human and tries to restore life to the ruined land.

I’m absolutely loving Pokémon Pokopia, and it seems like everyone else is too! Critics are really impressed – it’s currently sitting at an 89 out of 100 on Metacritic, based on over 100 reviews. What’s even cooler is that players agree! We’ve given it an 8.7 out of 10, with over 1,400 of us sharing our thoughts. It’s a huge hit!
