Paramount Pictures has announced they are making another Top Gun movie, and Tom Cruise will reprise his role.
The original Top Gun from 1986 was a massive hit and became a cultural touchstone. This paved the way for Tom Cruise to reprise his role in 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick, which earned over $1.5 billion globally. The film’s success was largely due to its use of real planes instead of computer-generated imagery and its appeal to fans of the original, and now Paramount Pictures is eager to make another installment.
At CinemaCon, Paramount revealed plans for another Top Gun movie, with Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer both returning. The project was initially announced earlier this year, with Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick, also involved. While Tom Cruise is set to reprise his role, a release date hasn’t been set yet, but the script is currently being developed.
