‘Street Fighter’ Official Trailer Released

The official trailer for the new Street Fighter movie is now available! Paramount Pictures initially showed a brief teaser in December 2025 at the Game Awards, but recently released the full trailer before their CinemaCon presentation. The movie centers around Ryu (played by Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), former friends who face off against each other in the World Warrior Tournament.

The movie Street Fighter boasts a star-studded cast, including Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Cody Rhodes as Guile, and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison. Kitao Sakurai, known for directing and working with Eric André on The Eric André Show and the film Bad Trip, is directing the movie. Eric André will also appear in the film as Don Sauvage. Street Fighter is a long-running and popular fighting game series created by Capcom, first launched in 1987.

The new Street Fighter movie is the third time the popular video game has been adapted into a live-action film. Previously, there was a Street Fighter movie in 1994 starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, and Ming-Na Wen, and another in 2009 called Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, featuring Kristin Kreuk (known from Smallville) as Chun-Li. Plans for a new Street Fighter film began as early as 2023 when Legendary Pictures obtained the rights from Capcom.

The directors of Talk To Me, Danny and Michael Philippou, initially planned to direct another horror film, Bring Her Back, and stepped away from the project in 2024 to focus on it. Originally, Sony Pictures intended to release the film on March 20, 2026, but they removed it from their schedule when their agreement with Legendary Pictures ended. Paramount Pictures then acquired the rights to distribute the film, setting a new release date of October 16, 2026.

The upcoming release of Street Fighter in 2026 is now even more anticipated, especially since Mortal Kombat II has been pushed back from October 2025 to May of the same year. This means fans will get new versions of both iconic fighting game franchises in 2026, continuing a decades-long rivalry. Both games aim to stay true to their source material while offering unique experiences: Mortal Kombat blends fantasy and horror with strategic gameplay, and Street Fighter is leaning into the over-the-top, energetic style of its 90s roots. It’s shaping up to be a competitive showdown at the box office to see which game will be the biggest hit.
