Prime Video’s 2-Part Crime Thriller Series Instantly Becomes Global Streaming Hit

Prime Video‘s returning crime thriller series notes down another successful case.

I’m completely hooked on this new detective series on Prime Video! It’s become a huge hit all over the world, and it only just came out. Prime Video has been doing really well with thrillers lately – I’ve loved shows like Reacher, The Terminal List, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Before this one, The Night Manager was the last series I really binge-watched on there, but this new show is quickly becoming a favorite!

Even with several new crime thrillers debuting in 2026, including Sophie Turner’s Steal, the most popular show on Prime Video right now is actually a couple of years old. Cross centers around Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross, a detective investigating a murder while personally dealing with the loss of his wife and the constant pressure of solving case after case. It’s a lot for him to handle.

The crime thriller Cross is quickly becoming a hit on Prime Video, currently ranking as the 5th most-watched show globally, according to FlixPatrol. The second season launched on February 11, 2026, with three episodes available immediately, and new episodes are being released every Wednesday. Like the first season, this season also has eight episodes.

The show Cross is doing exceptionally well on Prime Video, surpassing other popular thrillers like The Night Manager and All Her Fault (Peacock’s most-watched original in the U.S.). Globally on Prime Video, it’s currently ranked just below Spring Fever, Steal, Fallout, and the number one show, Beast Games.

The Prime Video crime thriller, Cross, is currently popular in 38 countries. While it’s not the most-watched show in any of those countries yet, since the second season just launched yesterday, it’s expected to quickly rise in the rankings.

The series Cross is currently a top performer, reaching #2 in Austria, Germany, and South Africa. It’s also doing well in the United States, where it’s now the 3rd most-watched show on Prime Video. Only Beast Games and Fallout are currently more popular on the platform. Starring Aldis Hodge, Cross has quickly gained a large audience since its return.

Season 2 of Cross is proving popular with both audiences and critics. It currently holds a 90% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. In a review for ScreenRant, Nick Bythrow awarded the season 7 out of 10, praising it as a strong continuation of the Aldis Hodge crime thriller. As of now, there’s no news about a third season of Cross.
