The world of Spider-Man is set to expand significantly in the coming year with exciting new projects for both movie theaters and television. In 2026, a unique and groundbreaking live-action Spider-Man story will debut this spring, marking a historic moment for the character.
Nicolas Cage’s new show, Spider-Noir, is coming to Prime Video on May 27th. All eight episodes of the Marvel series will be available to stream worldwide on that date, featuring Cage as Spider-Man.
The trailer for Spider-Noir has just been released, and the series will premiere in the US on the MGM+ channel on Monday, May 25th. Development on the comic book adaptation began in February 2023, with Chris Miller and Phil Lord – the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – serving as executive producers.
Spider-Noir tells the story of Ben Reilly, a different Spider-Man from Peter Parker, in a world where the action takes place in 1930s New York. As The Spider, he’s a private investigator who gave up being a hero after a difficult personal loss. Prime Video hints that only a truly remarkable case will convince him to return to crime-fighting.
The animated series Spider-Noir is set to launch in May, ideally timed before Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits cinemas on July 31st. Plus, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller aren’t finished with Spider-Man yet – they’re also developing Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse for Sony, currently scheduled for release on June 18, 2027.
I just finished watching the first season of Spider-Noir, a series co-created by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, and it’s got a great cast including Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, and the always fantastic Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane. But here’s the thing: as of right now, it’s still up in the air whether we’ll be getting a second season. It all hinges on how well season one does, so cross your fingers if you enjoyed it!
