Pokémon Officially Gives Players New Look At Winds and Waves Starter

ANA has announced details for its tenth generation of Starter aircraft, and they appear remarkably advanced compared to previous models.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has revealed the designs for the first two of three new Pokémon-themed airplanes. The planes, which will be painted green, red, and blue, will showcase all ten of the Grass, Fire, and Water-type starter Pokémon, along with Pikachu. ANA expects these special jets to begin flying later this year.

ANA’s New Pokémon Jets Mark a New Height for the Franchise

To mark both the 30th anniversary of the original Pokémon Red and Green games (released in 1996) and 40 years of ANA International flights, ANA is starting a new project. The idea behind it is to bring the excitement and fun of travel together with the world of Pokémon.

ANA has been bringing joy to passengers with special Pokémon planes since 1998, when they first introduced the Pokémon Jet. With several important anniversaries coming up in 2026, they’ve decided to release three uniquely designed aircraft, one right after the other, all under the Pokémon Jet name!

These are the next main Pokémon games, the tenth generation in the series. Currently planned for release around 2027, they’ll take place in a large tropical region made up of many islands and extensive underwater areas that players can freely explore.

Similar to other Pokémon games, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will introduce a new set of three Starter Pokémon for players to choose from at the beginning of their adventure in a brand new region. These include Growt, a small Grass-type Pokémon resembling a bean sprout chick, Pombom, a Fire-type puppy with a memorable smile, and Gecqua, a remarkably smart Water-type Pokémon.

I was so excited to see the results of the recent fan poll in Inside Games! They asked us who our favorite character was, and Pombom absolutely crushed it, getting a whopping 43.3% of the 1,140 votes! Gecqua came in second with 34.6%, and Growt rounded out the top three with 22.1%. It’s great to see Pombom getting so much love!

As a huge Pokémon fan, I’m so excited for the 30th anniversary! While we’re all waiting for the next big Pokémon game, there’s still tons to celebrate. And honestly, one of the coolest things coming up is this amazing new guide – it’s going to be the complete and final resource for everything about the original Kanto region and all 151 Pokémon that live there!

Fans and travelers can fly the new Pokémon Jets from All Nippon Airways later this year.
