Pixar consistently delivers fantastic animated movies, and their newest release is no exception. The film was both a commercial and critical success.
What Happens in the Hoppers Deleted Scene?
Pixar’s Hoppers tells the story of Mabel, an animal enthusiast who gets a chance to try out new technology that lets her transfer her mind into a realistic robotic beaver. This allows her to talk directly with animals, and she soon makes incredible discoveries. Along the way, she befriends a charming beaver and must unite all the animals to protect themselves from a serious danger posed by humans.
Daniel Chong, the director of We Bare Bears: The Movie, helms the animated film Hoppers, which he co-wrote with Jesse Andrews. The movie boasts a fantastic voice cast including Piper Curda as Mabel, along with Bobby Moynihan, Dave Franco, Eduardo Franco, Kathy Najimy, Vanessa Bayer, and Meryl Streep.
Director Daniel Chong described a deleted scene as significant and memorable, even though it wasn’t lengthy. He explained that it immediately follows the council meeting and shows Mabel and George escaping to a hiding place.
As an editor on the project, I can tell you we had a blast with some of the footage that didn’t make the final cut – especially nailing the comedic timing. There’s also a deleted scene that really fleshes out George’s past. It turns out his wilder, pre-marriage days actually led them to the safe house they were looking for, though that peace didn’t stick around for long.
What Other Bonus Features Are in Hoppers’ Digital Release?
Besides “George’s Bachelor Pad,” several other scenes were cut from the movie before its release. These include “Helicopter Ride,” “Colt Open,” “The Glade,” “The Mission,” and “Kings Arrive.” They’ll be available in the upcoming digital release.
The digital release will feature bonus content like behind-the-scenes featurettes, interviews, and a look at how the animated film was made. It will also include breakdowns of key scenes, offering insights into the directing, editing, visual effects, and other creative aspects.
Pixar and Disney’s Hoppers performed well, earning $370.6 million globally on a $150 million budget, which was enough to make it a profitable venture. This success followed the less impressive performance of their 2025 film, Elio. While Elio received good reviews, it only brought in $154 million despite costing an estimated $150 to $200 million to produce.
Luca also boasts one of Pixar’s highest-rated soundtracks, earning a 94% ‘Certified Fresh’ score from critics based on 220 reviews, and a 93% ‘Verified Hot’ rating from viewers.
