With so many different versions of Batman appearing in comics over the years, the new Batman in the DC Universe can’t possibly represent them all. However, DC’s recent success with bringing lesser-known aspects of its heroes to life in movies and TV shows suggests a bright future for this new take on the character.
Apple TV has become a go-to place for high-quality science fiction. Not only are its original series, such as Severance, consistently excellent, but its adaptations of popular books, including Silo and Foundation, are also improving with each season. Recently, Constellation has been particularly noteworthy, offering a truly unique and fresh perspective within the genre.
Released in 1986, The Fly was remarkable for its incredible practical effects and its moving, tragic story of a man who transforms into a monster through self-experimentation motivated by love. This makes it a highlight in David Cronenberg’s work, and a particularly insightful film to watch before Clayface, as the two share similar themes.
As a huge fan, I have a really strong feeling someone’s going to betray Maul in the new Shadow Lord series. Honestly, this show is already up there with the best Star Wars Disney has made, and there are still four episodes left! What I love most is that we’re finally getting to see more of Maul’s incredibly tragic backstory – it’s been amazing to watch his journey unfold.
Okay, so I’ve seen a lot of sci-fi shows that start with a mystery, but the beginning of Silo on Apple TV? It’s seriously gripping. We’re introduced to Allison, played by Radhida Jones, and you immediately get the feeling she’s about to uncover something huge. Then, just moments after she steps outside the Silo, she falls and… well, she dies. It’s a total shock and completely hooked me right away!
It’s no surprise that classic cyberpunk stories like Blade Runner, Neuromancer, and Ghost in the Shell are being revisited for television. While William Gibson’s Neuromancer is widely considered the most important work in the cyberpunk genre, it’s surprising it took so long to get a major film or TV adaptation. For years, it was thought to be impossible to adapt, but Apple TV is now working on a show based on the novel.
The new show is particularly interesting because it’s adapted from the novels The Captive’s War by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. These authors are also known as James S. A. Corey, the writers of The Expanse book series. Given Prime Video’s successful six-season adaptation of The Expanse, there’s good reason to be optimistic about their version of The Captive’s War.
Gates McFadden, the actress who played Beverly Crusher, recalls that she and Patrick Stewart were initially hesitant about the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Sub Rosa” when they first read it. However, she now finds the episode amusing to watch, especially the now-famous scene depicting Crusher experiencing a highly unusual and memorable moment – often described as a “green-eyed orgasm.”

Before the events of Game of Thrones, Ned Stark lived a full life, and a key part of his story was Robert Baratheon’s rebellion. Now that a stage play about the rebellion is planned, it’s likely we’ll also see it adapted into a TV show or movie. While Sean Bean famously played Ned Stark, this new adaptation will allow a different actor to portray a younger version of the character.
